I’m soooo proud of my State of Missouri legislature. Yesterday they announced that with the likes of Walt Disney…Walter Cronkite…Harry Truman…Mark Twain…Stan Musial... Dred Scott…and other famous Missourians they will display a $10,000 bronze bust of Rush Limbaugh in the Capital rotunda.

The Republican head of the house announced with pride the instillation over the protests of the bothersome Democratic minority. He said about the protests…“It’s not the ‘Hall of Universally Loved Missourians,’ ” said Tilley, a Perryville Republican. “It’s the Hall of Famous Missourians”

I am now packing a lunch for the short drive so I can be present and pay homage to the forethought of my elected officials at the great honor.

Heaven help us

Butch

I was raised in St Loser, in the Great State of Misery, and I can tell you from painful memory that this is about average. That place is America's answer to a Third World Country. Feh.

Well it's safe to say your bust will never be on review...you're just jealous.

Your nick is duly noted for further review.

Wait a minute. Are there busts of all those other people, too? Stan Musial, Mark Twain, and Dred Scott are of particular interest to me.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Yes there are...all famous Missourians on permanent display...but none as honored as Rush...It is nice to know my state is in good hands and Rush will be looking down on my representatives as they pass legislation such as taking away state support for the disabled to balance the budget... No tax increase here...hallelujah...the god of Catholics must surely be watching over Jefferson City.

I too am a "proud" resident of Missouri and I sent this arrogant politician an email about his decision to add Limbaugh to the list of such people as Harry S. Truman, Dale Carnegie, Walt Disney, Scott Joplin, Omar Bradley, Walter Cronkrite and 33 others who are known for their accomplishments and MEANINGFUL contributions to the advance of the U.S. The only thing Limbaugh will add to Missouri or to this country with his foul mouth is shame and distain; Steven Tilley has made Missouri a laughing state, but hpefully it will result in his own demise.

I urge all of us to bombard Steven Tilley with an email letting him know how we feel about this decision.

Petition: Speaker of Missouri House: Stop Missouri Legislature from honoring Rush Limbaugh

Why This Is Important

Statues in the Missouri State Capitol Rotunda honor famous Missourians. Naturally, one would expect that these statues and busts honor famous Missourians who have made a positive contribution to their community. For example, Missourians Stan Musial, a beloved St. Louis Cardinals baseball Hall of Famer known for his skill, sportsmanship and moral fiber (when he quit pro ball to fight for his country in World War II); American hero Sacajawea; broadcaster with integrity, Walter Kronkite; and great American President Harry S. Truman are among the others who have been honored in this way. Missouri Speaker of the House, Steven Tilley's plan to have a bust of Rush Limbaugh is a slap in the face not only to those others honored, but to Missourians. Limbaugh is famous for his divisive, racist, misogynistic rhetoric and has not made a valuable contribution worthy of being honored with the likes of the heroes listed above. Going through with this goofy plan of erecting a bust of Limbaugh on State property would send the rest of the country the message that Missouri is a short-sighted population that recognizes individuals for celebrity and infamy over substance and quality.

My pleasure. I've been a Petition Princess lately :)

I haven't done an analysis, but I think they've had a really good success rate.
