Really, I thought we're on a hawt(new spelling so to see)bdsm dating site and everybody is hiding out in this section.
What has the world come to?
Before the elections everybody laughs at the politicians, after the election they all laugh at us.
Guess everything is said in General and the only thing left there is going thru old shit.
Damn.

Is politics the new religion? Yes it is. Why is everyone hiding out in this section? Politics is ever so stimulating. As I see it there are several reasons:

There is an emphasis here to be real which means no cybersex.

After awhile sex is boring.

Sex can remind you too much of what you aren't getting if you are not getting it.

A man could get dizzy messaging females and you usually have to message them. They will rarely ever message you.

Talking about politics is a better way to pass your time if you aren't getting it.

The real question is why isn't sports as appealing? The reason for this is that sports is a waste of time. People here tend to be political activists because they want freedom.

If you would prefer to go to a town hall meeting to vote on some issue every Sunday instead of going to Church and make politics the new religion raise your hand.

That was funny. The only problem is, I've never had a problem bringing a woman to orgasm. What is curious about this is, you would think I wouldn't have any problem finding a woman. I have a sense of humor. I have a lot of good qualities. I just don't have anything that a woman wants.

I saw a wild film a week or so ago called Idiocracy (2006) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387808/. It is about a possible future for mankind where technological achievement peaked at some point, then we de-evoluted into morons. The story was ridiculous.

In the story we still had politics.

If politics is the new religion that can only be a bad thing...

Since I rarely hear politics is a good thing, I guess it's bad.
Things used to be more simple. We make things harder then they are. We like a challenge and we like to be right. We all like to think we are right.
Religion's main drive has always been ethics, politics/democracy is no different.
Religion is far from it's roots, so is politics.
The worst things are done under the guise of good.
To be honest politics is religion. It is what we believe to be good, what we proclaim and hold on to.

The text I bolded explains in part why I think politics becoming the new religion is bad. Religion requires an act or leap of faith to accept it, where doubt or skepticism is negated. By contrast those qualities are often a positive in politics. Its a matter of pure belief as opposed to justified belief, which we might have after hearing a rational political argument.

I agree with what you say. We have some crazy anti islam party in government here right now. He started saying Holland has a christian/jew tradition. Another christian ruling party just took over the term. It used to be just christian. Fact is we are no longer a christian country considering the numbers that don't believe or believe in something else. We are proud to say we seperated church and state and then claim a country has a religious foundation. Doesn't seem right to me.
Religion is something personal. We should never cross that line. We still have christian public schools. I cant agree with that. And the supporters of it get kicked in their own ass, cause islamic schools are on the rise. It defeats integration and stimulates segregation.
We call them somewhat negative, black schools, they also score way below average.
Bottomline is I can agree with political religious parties. I cant agree with God on our money. The word God in our constitution. It should be erased from all lawbooks. Like the whole abortion/euthanasia discussions. I don't have a problem with people against abortion. I have a problem with people pushing their ethics on me. Thats not liberty.
But I am not worried too much. Religious fanatics are diggin their own graves. They can be fought in any court of law and they will always loose in the end. The only problem left what I've seen is, that politicians don't abide courtjudgements. That will end too.

Politics is more a replacement for Religion: it gives you a license to act like a cunt so long as you claim to believe something ideological now, but you won't be taken to task for your behaviour here after croaking.
So: all of the ups, and none of the downs.

I think politics certainly has taken on a religion-like fervor; a zealotry that is dangerous in that it divides us instead of keeping us focused on actually solving problems.

The divide is almost a "war zone" wherein there's such animosity that it scares away the weaker of heart because they don't want to become embroiled in the negative ju-ju.

It's happening and always has happened. We have witch hunts to further disenfranchise those who have the audacity to hold a minority opinion.

Very similar to so many awful times in our (human) history.

Peace and comfort,

Michael
