On a more serious note: Petaluma is one of the centers where chicken ranchers came in the 30's. Most were Jewish, starting a new life and most were very liberal. They were the "salt of the earth," wonderful folks. There's a rich heritage there. Sometimes, I write humorous songs about the things I admire, just to remind myself that there's a funny side too. And that's what happened here.
While being considered Commies and Lefties in the 50's, these folks gave much to Sonoma County. One of these farmers was recently honored on (I think) his 90th birthday with a huge celebration. Left, right and center filled a very large auditorium and gave him a standing ovation for his integrity and contributions to the community. A great guy!
