So, I think its fairly accurate to say that they will be nominating someone who is not running.  Any ideads?

Reagan, he's the candidate you hear the most about.
Palin, cause even the thought of her as president would get enough Americans to swim to Europe to allow the conservatives to take over the nation.
Jindal/Rubio, cause the republicans will figure only a darky can beat a darky
Michelle Bachmann, cause Palin wasn't scary enough
Donald Trump, he can have a special "apprentice," to pick his VP
Jeb Bush, cause the last 2 Bushes worked so well
Boener, Claiming that his tanning fetish makes him fit the qualifications of Jindal/Rubio
Mark Foley, to show that the Republicans are hip to this whole gay thing.
John McCain, to prove that he wouldn't have let Palin get the presidency "I'm still alive, now get off my lawn you damn kids!"
Mel Gibson, hey, an actor worked before (see Reagan) Plus, he makes Palin look good. May not get the Jew vote though.

The obvious names...that keep popping up...are Rubio, Jeb Bush, and Christie. Each of them have their own problems.

Rubio is not widely known, and he would have to deal with the "I was raised Catholic, became a Mormon, and now I'm back to being a Catholic. I suspect the public has pretty much had enough with religion as a campaign issue, but he appears to have the most complex background, and with all the "wrong" churches. He would struggle because he's not well known.

Bush would carry all the baggage of the previous people of that name/clan. I don't think enough time has passed, and if somebody spoke the phrase: Vote for Bush, because it's worked so well the last two times the whole country would double over in laughter. He's said he doesn't want to do it, and I think he's got the right idea.

Christie would be more interesting, however, he has two things he'd have to confront. Like Rubio, he's not all that well known. There's not much time for a candidate to spread his name around between the convention and November.

His second problem, which could easily be used to tie him to the current mess, might even be more interesting.

When the New Jersey legislature took up the subject of Gay Marriage, Christie said he "...didn't think 121 elected officials should be deciding something like that..." and recommended it be referred to the voters as a whole. Okay, he's just ducking an issue, but that makes a certain amount of sense, even though poll showed a 55% favorable result in the state. Then, when the legislature passed it, he vetoed it.

So, he didn't think it was right for 121 people elected by the citizens to provide leadership to make the decision, but he DID believe it was just fine for 1 person elected by the same people TO MAKE THE DECISION. That is almost a textbook definition of Hypocrisy.

Beyond these three, who knows. I think Sarah is out of the picture, Jindal has pretty much faded from view (and is not well known), and the rest of the usual suspects wouldn't be any better.

It's a mess, but boy is it entertaining to watch. Very few people have ever seen a huge political party completely self-destruct before.

SNORTS @ arnie
Isnt it cutting it a bit fine?? do we get trump deciding to run after his show finishes?
I still hold out hope palin is squirming to make a move, but I fear I will be denied that particular FUBAR.
Was this part of the plan all along? grins...
I dont see Bush being credible wiht anyone but bush fans, as for the rest, I dont see any of them being enough to beat Obama.

Romney had to find a venue for an audience of 1200. He chose, inexplicably, a football stadium. His staff needed to make it look full.

No story here except there is NO WAY he couldn't find a more suitable venue in Michigan. Should be loads of vacancies.

FR
Mitt's going to be the nominee.
They're saving Rubio for 2016.

Wasn't Rubio in the movie "Hook" with Robin Williams as Peter Pan?
Black kid, wild hair???
Or was that Rufio?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marco_Rubio

...Rubio has been called the "crown prince" of the Tea Party movement.[2][3] He has been mentioned as a potential choice for Republican candidate for vice-president in 2012 but has said he is not interested.[4]

..."Son of exiles" controversy

In October 2011, the St. Petersburg Times and The Washington Post reported that Rubio's previous statements that his parents were forced to leave Cuba in 1959, after Fidel Castro came to power, were incorrect as they had in fact left Cuba in 1956 during the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista. According to The Washington Post, Rubio's "embellishments" resonate with many voters in Florida, who would not be as impressed by his family being economic migrants seeking a better life in the U.S. instead of political refugees from a communist regime.[7] Rubio responded, "The real essence of my family’s story is not about the date my parents first entered the United States. Or whether they traveled back and forth between the two nations. Or even the date they left Fidel Castro’s Cuba forever and permanently settled here."[27][28][29] According to a number of commentators within the Cuban exile community in Miami, Rubio is justified to continue to characterize himself as a son of exiles.[29][30]...

People will ask the traditional question: "are you better off compared to four years ago (?)" before voting for the incumbent.  So, Obama will collect 1% of the vote.

After reading the Wiki... Romney has the record for the smallest crowd in the venue's history.

Let's just throw wrestle mania on the ballot and spare President Obama the indignity of having to kick around this pathetic fuck. And to think, his old man would have needed a stadium this size to do c CEO address to the American Motors Employees in that town.

That is roughly the footprint the Grateful Dead's stage would have occupied. Impressive Mitt, Impressive... and in the same motor city your dad was declared a king not so long ago.

Please let me know if you would be open to a serious wager to back up your empty words... I always need a little extra cash at the holiday season and well ... if there was ever an easy mark...

It was a hypothetical ideal world related remark. I hope everybody understood it. In real world we have all kind of people: the ignorant, kult Obama, useful idiots and such. So, the outcome of the elections is not predictable. I certainly am not pretending to know it.
