SoftBonds -> RE: False Adertising! (2/22/2012 8:51:36 AM)

You try reporting it to the site mods? You may have to prove it is you by showing the facebook page then typing in an update, but I'm sure they can get the false profile taken down.

stef -> RE: False Adertising! (2/22/2012 8:53:06 AM)

Oh no! If there was only a mechanism in place for dealing with things like this.

Oh, wait. There is!

What is the purpose of this page?

This page provides information for persons who have become aware of photos of themselves posted to this website by another person without their consent. The instructions below will enable you to provide verification of your identity and consequently have those photos removed.

This page also tells you where to go for information regarding our complaince with the DMCA notification and takedown proceedures for those who wish to pursue this more formalized method of notifying us of infringing content.

What do I need to verify and why?
You need to verify that you are the person who holds ownership to the photo(s) in question. This is necessary so that we can determine which party genuinely holds such ownership and which party is falsely claiming it.

How can I verify my identity?
We are able to accept verification of identity by any of the following means:

1) You can use the form below to upload a picture of yourself holding up a piece of paper with the words "STOLEN PHOTOS" written on it. We must be able to clearly see your face for the purpose of comparison. This is the simplest and easiest way to verify your identity.

2) You can use the form below to upload an image of your government issued photo-identification card. This can be your drivers license, passport, or other government-issued identification card which has your picture on it. You may black-out sensitive information, such as your identification number, if desired.

3) We also comply fully with the DMCA notification and takedown provisions. If you would like to notify us of infringing content by utilizing these provisions, please click here for instructions.

Can I use other means to verify my identity?
No. Sending us other information, such as links to websites containing your photos, are not sufficient.

How do I report photos on behalf of someone else?
You cannot report photos on behalf of another person. Please direct the person you are concerned about to this page.

How long will it take until my report has been processed?
Under normal circumstances, your report will be processed within three business days or less. If your report is verified, the photos in question will be removed.

OsideGirl -> RE: False Adertising! (2/22/2012 8:54:08 AM)

You need to do that on the other side. They have procedures to follow if your picture has been used.

And as a side note, your post here violates TOS, you're going to need to remove the screen name from the post or the Mods will remove.

By the way, the image in that person's account can be used to find your personal information. I found your name, address and telephone number in less than a minute using that pic so you might want to remove the reference to the username before someone nefarious comes across that info and decides to do something sinister with it.

Stef, that would be about truth in advertising and making a bad situation worse, along the lines of sending someone an e-mail with a virus in it, and then sending one behind it apologizing (containing another virus) (happened to me).

this is about false advertising, we should remain on topic.

LOLOLOLOL.

Merotica - you have an hour to edit your post - I strongly suggest you remove the user name from it. Not only does it violate TOS to include it, but see Stef's point above.

Fornica -> RE: False Adertising! (2/22/2012 9:37:18 AM)

Uh yeah. You've just given us (and everyone that reads your profile) all of your personal info. Not the brightest crayon, eh darlin?

Some days I just gotta wonder.

stef -> RE: False Adertising! (2/22/2012 11:55:48 AM)

Some people weren't born with the sense god gave the common dog. Sadly, many of those people find their way here. Yay us.

xxblushesxx -> RE: False Adertising! (2/22/2012 12:07:31 PM)

Not everyone knows about tineye or the google image search.
Not everyone knows what is against TOS, especially since she only came here to post this one post because she didn't know how to fix the problem she had.
OP, I've found pictures that were stolen of friends before. It's a very easy and quick process to get them taken down. The links they gave you above will help.
Good luck!
