As far as Rick Santorum is concerned, mainstream Protestantism "is gone from the world of Christianity." That's what he told students at Florida's Ave Maria University, founded by Domino's Pizza mogul Tom Monaghan, during a 2008 lecture.

The clip was unearthed by People for the American Way and played on Saturday's "Up With Chris Hayes" on MSNBC.

"We all know that this country was founded on a Judeo-Christian ethic. But the Judeo-Christian ethic -- sure the Catholics had some influence -- but this was a Protestant country," said Santorum. "And the Protestant ethic, mainstream, mainline Protestantism, and of course we look at the shape of mainline Protestantism in this country and it is a shambles, it is gone from the world of Christianity as I see it."

This is getting crazy people are "mainlining protestantism" ... I always new we'd come to no good if we let those Reaganites run free. Have there been any overdoses? They'll be sorry when the start losing their big rock stars like Pat Boone and Garth Brooks.

"Now there is no uniform definition of “mainline Protestantism,” but most people would understand it as including the religious denominations affiliated with the
World Council of Churches (which claim 560 million members), or in the U.S., with the National Council of Churches (about 45 million members). That’s a lot of church-going Christians.

Sorry ... got up to take a wizz and couldn't resist.

The problem with Obama's agenda, according to Santorum, is that it's about, "some phony theology." In other words, he continued, "not a theology based on the Bible." (Reuters)

Obama's running for President and not Arch Bishop, so I am okay with that.
Perhaps Santorum could run for the office posted on the ballot as well.

Didn't he go on to say of Obama something to the effect: I don't know if he is a Christian. You will have to ask him.

Isn't that in the same ballpark as: I don't know if he was born here. You will have to ask him.

Different identifier, same ploy . . . Obama is not one of us.

This is going around FB as if it were not satire:

Santorum: Being Female is a Mental Disorder

Former Senator and Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum recently told a local university in Nebraska that not only is being a LGBT individual seen as suffering from a mental disorder, but so is being a female.

“It has been my experience that when dealing with females, you need to treat them as though they have a mental disorder… especially those that are constantly seeking equality in the workplace, the military, and in the home. Women need to know their place and need to know when it is okay for them to speak. They were put on this earth for two reasons, and two reasons alone: taking care of their husband, and giving birth to his children… that is all. Any woman who tells you otherwise is obviously touting the liberal agenda of equality, and they need to be told the truth of their purpose. It is a disorder that can be fixed, but not until they go through several years of therapy to understand that they need to be subservient.”

Sen. Santorum’s words are not being taken lightly, and several women are already seeking therapy for their mistaken goal of becoming equal within society.

That tends to be the main conservative argument when they get onto personal attacks at the other side's candidates in the last two or three decades. I'm a bit surprised you haven't noticed before now...

It's the EXACT same ballpark with a nice little Mitch O'Connell PUSSY spin to it.

Like "I'll take the president on his word"... Man! Whales can't shit low enough to cover these guys up.

He replied to the clip.  Sort of.  http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/02/18/santorum-obama-leads-with-a-different-theology/?hpt=hp_t3

In his original drivel, he stated, “It's not about your job. It's about some phony ideal, some phony theology,” Santorum said. "Oh, not a theology based on the Bible, a different theology. But no less a theology.”  In other words, Obama isn't a Christian, but Rick's not going to say what he is, because that would involve stating something factual.

In his *ahem* clarification, he stated,“You may want to call it a theology, you may want to call it secular values,” he said. “Whatever you want to call it. . . it is a different set of moral values that they are imposing on people who have a constitutional right to have their own values within the church.”  He said Obama has reached a “low in this country’s history of oppressing religious freedom that we have never seen before.”Asked if he believes the president is less of a Christian than someone such as himself, Santorum said that “no one is suggesting that.”  “In the Christian church there are a lot of different stripes of Christianity. . . . I’m just saying he’s imposing his values on the church and I think that’s wrong,” he said.  Responding to a separate question on whether he disagrees with Obama when the president calls himself a Christian, Santorum said, “If the president says he’s a Christian, he’s a Christian.”

I'm not a fan of tap dancing.  Anyone who would say the above drivel is a weenie.

What damn, that's pretty good isn't it? What's he want, a new high? [:D]
