Okay,I went and looked at that, and it does jog my memory....and also confirms that I don't have the energy to get into this with you tonight( and I suspect were we to,we would simply rehash old ground and go round and round)so I will just bid the two of you goodnight and be thankful that the very unsavory misunderstanding of earlier has been cleared up.

There are so few actual conservatives around today, they've gotten their own label now (paleoconservative). I can't recall ever hearing or reading anything regarding religion from that small group.

Ah.. The ones who actually BELIEVE in small government and fiscal responsibility. Yeah, they also have the proper manners to leave their religion a private thing for their families, and not trying to use it as justification for their legislation.

And I remember well when David Frum threw them all out of the party.

Even the kool-aid drinking faux-conservative Republicans have given up here

Maybe if you skipped the grade school insults you could get more people interested. But until that happens I can't see any reason to waste the time.

Yep. Make sure you take all proper precautions that day if you have any cardio vascular conditions.... It's going to be a rough one for ya.

Or maybe the few kernels of refuse corn he threw down brought the cons out in droves.

Ya mean the John Chafee who is now safely dead, and was considered a "Rockefeller Republican"?

You know of any living conservatives who hold strong religious views that you don't consider "far right" DK?

And the labeling continues. Is Rockefeller supposed to be a pejorative?

There are so few actual conservatives around today, they've gotten their own label now (paleoconservative). I can't recall ever hearing or reading anything regarding religion from that small group.

I guess the closest would be George H W Bush. I disagree with him on most everything but he does seem to try and live a "christian" life especially in his post White House years.

So, you can't think of any currently living ... and serving? ... conservative that has strong religious beliefs that aren't "far right neo-nazi Christian ideologues"? [8D]

Move goalposts much?

Let's say I dig through all the elected Republicans till I find that rare paleoconservative who is also openly discussing faith. What will your complaint be then? He's not prominent enough? He doesn't campaign on religion?

I regret starting this thread. I also regret the use of pejorative language. I have posted in specific details how, in my view, Republican politicians are anything but conservative. That thought was a driver for the language.

I certainly offended some here and I apologize.

My greater point is this: Posting on these boards is no longer enjoyable for me. If you read my earlier posts, they were all substantive, detailed, and issue-driven. I enjoyed the issue-driven debate. Yes, on a rare occasion, after being directly insulted half a dozen times, I might use a pejorative phrase. (Don't believe me? Read my posts)

I NEVER directly insulted anyone, and NEVER said "F*CK him" (And that comment came from someone I used to enjoy debating!)

I may return at some point. But for now, I shall keep my political ideas on my blog :)

Well, the cats back in the bag then.

On a separate issue,  I really was unaware that there was actual debate performed here in Pol and Rel.  I've never really seen it.

You are correct, depending on the definition of conservative one uses. I think Ron Paul kinda lays it out here.

No shit. Most people will not stand up and be counted for what they are and concurrently what they profess. (I'm not so sure many really understand just what they are.) It's hard to debate when language becomes so twisted and convoluted as to be unintelligible. It's all just unpleasant noise.

Most people will not stand up and be counted for what they are...

Most people are people, or so I would like to hope, though there often enough seems reason to doubt, and hold differing views on different subjects, being neither entirely conservative nor entirely liberal in their views. The so-called "people" who are a WHAT instead of a person are the fucking PROBLEM.
