And get sentenced by this judge!
This was for a murder of a woman in her home and the attempted murder of her daughter. Somewhat similar to that case in Connecticut.

I don't understand. He only killed a woman, leaving a daughter without a mother (and presumably), a husband without a wife, a family without one of its members, a community without a contributing member ...

I think she was a little tough on him. I think he should have been given a lollipop and made to stand in the corner for 20 minutes.

I am reminded of the old story of a man who was in his late 60s being sentenced to 40 years for armed robbery and something else (this was back in the 70s, when we still punished criminals) and the old man looked at the judge and said: "Your honor, I'll never be able to finish that sentence."

The judge's response was: "Give it your best shot."

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Judge Roy Bean sentenced a convict in a more descriptive way.

Fucking thrill-killer.  Prison isn't good enough.  Now spending the rest of his life in unending pain - that'd be good enough.

According to the video you linked, the sentencing in the first degree murder is not discretionary, so I am not sure what difference the judge would make. Now she certainly could have cut back on the other charges, but once you are looking at life with no possibility of parole, do you really care what other sentences are added?

This was an especially cold-blooded killing, with many factors that ripped the breath out of many us in the surrounding towns. I am not quite my peaceful self when it comes to these boys. I would happily pay to see their lynching. And I would enjoy it.

I agree, it was like something out of clock work orange or something like that.
I hope they really *torture* those guys in prison; "But Sarge, we're just waterboarding him! Don't the boy scouts have a merit badge for that?
