Unless there are surprises (there are always surprises)....
Mitt will be the nominee. Obama will be re-elected, but by a small margin. Republicans will whine for four years.
But Republicans may well retake the Senate. Not predicting that, though. Republicans poll very low. But many more Democrats are up for re-election. Hard to read. The House will likely remain Republican, though they may lose a few seats. I doubt they'll gain any.
Republicans made a mistake by refusing to participate in health care reform, despite their talking points. Without that, they could ride the poor economy to re-election, as many voters have already forgotten Republicans played a role in that crash (as did Democrats). Picking Corporate Mitt as their standard bearer is not a wise move, but the opposition is Newt, whom even Republicans hate, or the field of half sane at best conservative candidates--note, not a dig at conservatives, but specifically this field of ridiculous candidates. Ron Paul is never going to win wide-spread support.
Surprises happen. But believing in miracles seems to be the only Republican strategy.
