I've decided to downgrade my next phone and make a conscious attempt to disconnect.
To use it only as a phone and only receive text messages from Shorey and my girls.
I have a blackberry now. Have no desire for a smart phone.
I watch people sitting in the same room talking to each other through text.
That's just fucked up.

I have direct orders from Shorey to only have my phone set on phone calls only.
No beep to let me know that an email has hit the inbox.
No beep to let me know that a text arrived.
No internet while in the car. I listen to music really fucking loud instead.

Life is much more relaxed.

Hmm, food for thought.

I was planning on getting a smart phone but I'm such an ergonomic snob I probably wouldn't want to do email on my phone anyway.

I used the search function for the first time ever to find this thread...I have a bitch about Apple and I am determined to air it.

Seems my barely 3 week iPhone had a glitch today,it decided volume was not available sans ear plugs.Worked fine with plugs in,without plugs no music...all other sounds were working.
Okay maybe I hit something and screwed up the settings, the good folks at Verizon could not undo it,they suggested going to the Apple store 4 towns over....
I decided to call Apple customer support, genius that I am...got a helpful fellow who listened to my issue and transferred me to technical support, where I was promptly advised that for 59.95 thye could talk me right thru a fix....
I informed them that the phone was less than a month old, they told me I was free to take the unit to the Apple store where they would confiscate my phone for 2 or 3 days while they fixed it(obvious scare bullshit tactic) or for,again,59.95 they could get me up and running !
I told the "gentleman" in unmistakable language just what I thought of there support...and hung up
30 minutes later this 59.95 problem had self corrected,I'm thinking a simple glitch,no problem at all...save for the experience I had with Apple and the way they do business.
I will never again buy an apple product.
Fuck them

this happens when you un-plug earphones so fast,
1-try to re put them if few times & then take them off slow.
2-try to blow in the (ear-phone) whole. (blowing air with your mouth.... dont get naughty now).
3-try to sync your phone or reboot it by: "shitting" it down & then start it up (yes shitting & not shutting) apple all are shit

if non of the above works, piss on that damn phone & bring it back to apple store to fix it for ya

hope you listend to me when i told ya to buy a Galaxy

Oh good grief, they're not going to confiscate your phone.

Bring it into the store and I'll bet you that they find the "problem" in less than 10 minutes, and that there is nothing actually wrong with the phone.

Stef I know that, and you know that...and certainly the man did not use the word "confiscate" ,that was a touch of my own editorial flair, but what he did say directly was that they would keep the phone for 2 or 3 days in order to fix it.
Now my common sense told me immediately that if the problem could have been solved by some tech talking my idiot ass thru it over a phone .....that someone in the Apple store would have fidgeted with my phone for all of 2 minutes and sent me on my way......the point I was trying to make, and that I apparently failed to get across ,was that the idiot on the phone thought it was okay to "scare" me into thinking the imposition was worth the 59.95.
Hence my anger
Good grief Steff...work with me a little here, comedy needs an audience to follow along

Work a little harder, comedy is usually funny.

It's a shame this didn't happen within your 14 day return period then you could have been free of Apple's evil clutches.

As I said comedy actually needs an audience, now perhaps it wasn't my best work, but do you think you were at the top of your game when you took "confiscate" literally ?
Seriously,is it possible you could have granted me the benefit of the doubt that I am not an asshole,or that I would assume my friends here at Collarme are assholes
Maybe we were both off a bit here ?

Got a Droid....pretty much the same thing I'm told by those that know (I don't).

I hate it.

Never could understand all this bullshit about people being distracted while they drive.

I get it now.

I'm giving it 2 more weeks but I'm pretty much decided to go back to a "phone".

(Like...that thing that dials, rings people up and such, calls people....that kind of thing).
