"Conservative North Florida voters: Romney's too rich"

Very interesting interviews on the pod-cast.

http://www.cnn.com/2012/01/26/politics/north-florida-conservatives/index.html

They say being called an elitist by these working class conservatives, is worse than being called a liberal.[:D]

"But former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Crum says, is a man who understands the plight of the working class and can articulate conservative principles effectively.

Picking up two fishing rods, Crum says the expensive Penn International, priced at almost $400, is like Romney. Meanwhile, the Jarvis-Walker, which he says does everything the other rod does but sells for about $50, is like Gingrich.

"I got a customer," Crum continues. "He has about six rod holders on the side of the boat. He's got six Penn Internationals, and when he leaves port he has them on this side of the boat towards the docks, and when he comes in he puts them on the other side of the boat. We go out there because it's a good day to be alive, God built a world let's go enjoy it, but the elitist wants to impress their friends."

Obamao has been preparing the battlefield for a year, grooming it to run against Mittens, who is the absolute poster boy for the 1%. Dims don't have to compare him to "Wall Street Bankers"; he is, effectively speaking, a "Wall Street Banker"

Dims have been saying for... how long? months, certainly, that Romney is the candidate they're afraid of, Romney is the only candidate with a chance of beating Obamao, Romney is the only one that can appeal to independents, Romney blah blah blah.

1. Dims don't tell me who to vote for.
2. Dims aren't dim enough to be telling the truth, above.

No, democrats have said no such thing for months, or at all.  Only teabaggers, and their farsical and fantastical rhetoric is, was, and always will be irrelevant, as has been proven out by events.

Did you hear what the young lady said the end of the interview?

More or less that if Mitt win`s she`ll vote for President Obama but not work for the campaign.....but if newty wins, she`ll be stuff`n envelopes and knocking on doors.

newt`s going to motivate democrats too.[:D]

True that Obama '12' has run some very funny, killer ads against Mitt mostly about his flippidy-floppidy-ness.........which everyone gets.

The elitist thing is newt`s work. But will no doubt be a theme should Mitt win the GOP nod.

Now newty(his mom`s name for him,not mine)would be like an older, uglier, fatter, more corrupt version of Sarah Palin, should he win the GOP nod.

And a god send for democrats.

geeze... The Newt "understands the plight of the working class" [sm=rofl.gif]

a millionaire is a millionaire is a millionaire... both Mitt and The Newt are millionaires.. imo Mitt lived frugally in his early years just like many working class people.. I dont know how he lives now but i doubt he has changed all that much.. The Newt.. well.. imo how he made his millions from giving advice and such (like to fannie mae, etc) so on the sleazy side.. not exactly how the middle/working class does..

The Rs dont stand a chance of winning the next election..

Reminds me of the Doonesbury cartoon in which Duke tells Honey words to the effect of "ALL world leaders are sensitive to the needs of the people.  That's how they avoid becoming one of them!"

Romney was born with a golden spoon in his mouth. His father was a multi-millionaire and former president of American Motors. George was also an early investor in Amway.

Mitt had to know that the place for a young $mult-million heir, just had to be...wall street.

I really dont think the President cares who runs against him in the general election. Mr Romney represents the 1% of Americans whom are seen as 'the bad guys' by much of America right now. That he is willing to 'buy off the Goverment' just to satify his ego. His speechs have taken on the attitude that he is superior to you and me, and we should be grateful he's running for president, if only to be blessed in his presence. Mr. Gingrich on the other hand represents what is ugly and wrong with Washington. His speechs are characterized as being angry and without depth. He spends the majority of his time bitching like a little girl rather than setting up an indepth analysis and path towards goals Americans are demanding (i.e. a Jobs Bill).

Mr. Obama is still the one that is being optimistic and forward looking. He is doing what a leader should do....inspire others to become more than they are. Giving them a direction out of the haze most Americans feel trapped in. I know many conservatives on here do not like the guy for a wide range of reasons. But honestly, what sort of person do you want motivating you to achieve more in life? Mr. Romney and Mr. Gingrich do not even have 1% of the responsibilities that Mr. Obama currently holds, yet behave like they are doing nine times as much work on behave of the American people.

How likely is Mr. Gingrich and Mr. Romney willing to sit down with liberals and chat on how to get things accomplished? Compromise on issues to find the best deal and than keep that promise? If we have seen nothing else, it is that the president is willing to put asside petty arguements and issues to deal with the nation's problems head on.

Sure,.. he went to a good school and grew up in a nice house but he wasnt handed anything else on a silver platter like most rich kids.. he did live his early life frugally.. I know some people have a hate-on for him or anyone that has realized their "American Dream"... [8|]

"Romney recounted serving as a Mormon missionary in France as a young adult in the 1960s. He scraped by on around $110 a month".. ""A number of the apartments I lived in when I lived there didn't have toilets," "

"There was no sparkling car for Mitt Romney, however. His parents had refused to allow their four children to own cars in high school"..
"George Romney still required his children to mow the lawn, shovel snow, rake leaves, weed the garden. “I know he worried that because my brother, sisters and I had grown up in a prosperous family, we wouldn’t understand the lessons of hard work,”"..
"Friends learned to navigate Mitt Romney’s packed schedule of weekend chores and his shift as a security guard at a local Chrysler plant. “You couldn’t do anything on Saturday,” recalled a classmate, Phillip Maxwell, “because Mitt had to clean the basement.” "

btw.. I have also read that he gave his inheritance to charity..

I doubt you'll find too many people talking about bi-partisanship in an election year. This is the time when they want to seem partisan to show the voters why they are better than their opponent.

I find it interesting that (to me) this is essentially a mirror image of what occurred in 2004. I desperately wanted the Democrats to send me someone I could vote for so that I wouldn't have to vote for President Bush. I was so hopeful that someone was going to rise to the top and stand out as someone worthy of my support.

Unfortunately, the Democrats sent me Sen. Kerry. I just couldn't even hold my nose and vote for him. I wanted to but, I just couldn't.

This situation appears essentially the same. President Obama campaigned on "Hope" and "Change". I have seen precious little of either and I consider is presidency to be an abject failure. I was desperately hoping that the Republicans or someone would emerge and get me excited about the process. No such luck.

The Republicans haven't offered anyone that even comes close to making think they'd be a good choice (Ron Paul has some nice ideas but, I seriously think that he might be in need of stabilizing meds, with some of the things that come out of his mouth so, not someone to whom I would hand nuclear launch codes). The lot of them are so completely out of touch that they almost make me nostalgic for King George I (President Bush I).

For those that haven't heard it before: 2008 was the first presidential election for which I was eligible in which I did not vote. I couldn't decide which candidate was less awful.

I'm getting awfully tired of having to settle for the lesser of not even two evils but; "which one is going to fuck things up the least?"

Peace and comfort,

Michael
