I am hoping to pick up a good bargain on Craig's list for a treadmill. There are a whole lot of them. Does anyone have any advice on what to look for, or what to avoid?? Does anyone know a particular model they feel is especially good?

I made the mistake of buying a manual treadmill (new) because supposedly it was less noisy than electric. It was still noisy, though,...but not in the soothing, rhythmic way an electronic one is. Just irregularly annoying. So, based on that experience, I would recommend staying away from manual.

I had a manual one too, ages ago. My left side is much stronger, so the tread kept shifting!

Get one that has lots of room for coat hangers and isn't very heavy because you'll spend a lot of time moving it and hanging clothes on it.

True.
Just make sure the electric motor and belts are good. Motors can last "forever" or they can just go out.
Also, if there's a lot of them listed lowball them with your order. "Six hundred!?" "Buddy, have you looked in Craigs list and seen how many there are for sale?" If it's $600 offer them $300.

I've found that the best treadmill you can get, is the one you never use....which of course, is exactly (after about 5 days) what's going to happen....ergo....price is the most important aspect.

Therefore....best bet....a photo of a treadmill.

Kinko's can give you a full sized one for 35 bucks.

Don't pay more than 10 cents on the dollar of the price for a new one, if you can't find somebody willing to give it away, if you do the hauling.

If you plan on keeping it for years I would recommend buying an extremely popular model. An obscure model may be cheaper but you have q better chance of getting replacement parts in the coming years with a popular one.
