Bottom line. If this was a Democratic Governor, you would be crucifying his ass but since it's a Republican governor, it's ok.

You ought not to vote.

For one of them....end his suffering MY FUCKING ASS. The man could have lived and he put a fucking GUN to his head and killed him in COLD BLOOD and you say he ended his suffering like he was a fucking cancer patient?????

According to the article the victim already had three bullets in him. He was crawling. I would guess that he was in pain.
Yeah, well, sociopaths, you know, are not bleeding hearts. Such people function by way of logic and without conscience. I do not know that he was a sociopath, but I suspect so. I suspect the pardoned men all are. He undoubtedly had his reasons for the two head shots. Maybe he did not want to leave a witness. Maybe he quickly cogitated on the condition of the victim and decided that it was in the best interest of the victim to kill him immediately. Who knows?

What a piece of shit!!!!!

Only question is....Which person am I talking about?

Indeed.

Maybe you're just scrambling to find excuses to try to protect the actions of a sociopath?

I agree that them pardoned sociopaths are somewhat interesting. Perchance you can lay hand on their psych profiles?

Far more interesting, though, are the governor who pardoned them and the people who elected that governor.

That is a part of the country that would vote for a flatworm if it had an (R) after its name.

I wonder at the ages of those pardoned. Does anyone happen to know?

lovmuffin -> RE: Outgoing governor pardons 4 murderers. (1/10/2012 8:20:58 PM)

I'm shocked. I really am. This is the sort of thing I would expect from a democrat or a liberal judge or someone.  And the article states that the democrats in Mississippi are outraged. I'm wondering about the republicans, I would expect other republicans would be outraged too or maybe the AP is leaving something out or maybe all the republicans in Mississippi are insane.  Just reading through the article pisses me off.  And Barbour's excuse is it's some sort of tradition because they worked at the governors mansion ?  What in the name of Gods green earth are cold blooded killers doing workin some cushy job at the mansion ?  Shouldn't they pick check forgers and such for those kinds of jobs ?  Is this Governor insane or corrupt ?  What the fuck ? Convicted cold blooded killers, barring the death penalty, should never ever be allowed to take another breath in the midst of polite society ever again for as long as they live.

I know, this is all a bad dream and I'm going to wake up any minute to some other republican asshole that thinks gun control is a kewl idea and then have to wake up again and again.

I think Rule is being facetious or trollish I don't know which, or maybe he's trying to make a point in some sort of round about way or is trying to get a rise out of Hill. Good OP though as much as I'm not glad I read it I appreciate that you brought it to my attention. I hope this is being picked up by every news source in the country and heads start rolling all over the place.

I know..........I get it now,  the AP has become so bias that they put out a totally false story and Hill is tryin to get a rise out-a-me.  I knew I would wake up out out-a-this nightmare, I just knew it.

Ah. Then they ought not to complain.

Here is another article about it. It should answer some of your questions.

http://www.djournal.com/pages/full_story/push?article-Gov-+Barbour+pardons+4+killers+%20&id=17041197&instance=home_news_1st_left

quote:

Barbour's three predecessors, dating back to 1988, gave some type of early release or pardon to a total of 12 Governor's Mansion trusties. All but two of them had been convicted of murder. One was serving time for forgery and another for armed robbery and aggravated assault.

Epps, the corrections commissioner, told the AP in 2008 that the inmates who end up working at the Governor's Mansion are often convicted murderers because they are the ones who serve long enough sentences to build the trust needed for such a task.

Epps said Monday he wasn't taking a position on the practice of governors granting pardons, but pointed out that governors in Mississippi for decades have used their powers to let prisoners out early, including Governor's Mansion trusties convicted of serious crimes such as murder. He said he can't remember a case in which one of them committed another serious crime.

"I have sympathy and empathy for the victims," Epps said. "I've been a crime victim, but the point of the matter is this is just something that happens."

I was neither facetious nor trollish, nor was I trying to get a rise out of Hillwilliam (who it appears to me unfortunately has a short fuse). I was merely being realistic - and suspicious, as is my nature.

Winterapple -> RE: Outgoing governor pardons 4 murderers. (1/10/2012 10:14:10 PM)

FR
Barbour pardoned 193 people on his way out
and has pardoned 203 people in all.
17 of them were convicted of murder.
Billy Hayes Clark sentenced to 38 years
for shooting his girlfriend in the neck.
Pardoned after serving twelve years.
Michael Graham shot and killed his ex-wife.
Clarence Jones stabbed his girlfriend
22 times.
Paul Warnock shot his girlfriend in the
head while she slept.
William Kimble robbed and murdered a elderly
man.
All worked at the mansion. Interesting how
many of the victims were wives and girlfriends.
In 2008 lawmakers tried to reduce Barbours
constitutional clemency powers but failed.
Apparently every MS governor since 1988 has
pardoned people.
The republican governor before Barbour pardoned
13. Democrat Ray Mabus pardoned four.
One of the people Barbour pardoned was
Bret Farves brother who in 1997 was charged
with a DUI related death. He was sentenced to
one year of house arrest and two years probation.
Barbour also pardoned people guilty of drug crimes,
DUI crimes and kidnapping.
He spared no one on death row. Nine men
were executed during his two terms as
governor.
In Louisiana the governor can pardon only
if four out of five members of the pardon
board agree.
I can't find out any of the ages. But I'm guessing
Gatlin and Ozment to be in their forties.
Nathan Kern the robber convicted in 1982
could possibly be an older man. But I'm not
getting the impression that any of the murderers
he pardoned was elderly.

lovmuffin -> RE: Outgoing governor pardons 4 murderers. (1/11/2012 4:14:58 AM)

Oh good.......It's more fucked up than we thought. This is just really fucked up.

lovmuffin -> RE: Outgoing governor pardons 4 murderers. (1/11/2012 4:42:13 AM)

Ya know, After  that Mike Nifong fiasco I started wondering how often that type of prosecutor political misconduct BS goes on through out the US.   Now I'm wondering how often this abuse of office pardoning of violent convicted killers goes on.  I'm aware of Clinton's pardons but it doesn't rise to the same level as this.  I'm aware Don King was given clemency by an Ohio governor from a life sentence for beating a man to death.  I'm sure the information is out there for all to see.

I'm aware of abuses by parole boards, but a freakin governor........come on !!!

Lucylastic -> RE: Outgoing governor pardons 4 murderers. (1/11/2012 10:34:06 PM)

Interesting Taz thanks, but as a FR

Felons are allowed access to licenses and guns to hunt?
is that such a good idea?
"The pardons were intended to allow them to find gainful employment or acquire professional licenses as well as hunt and vote," Barbour said. "My decision about clemency was based upon the recommendation of the Parole Board in more than 90 percent of the cases."

OK I get the pardon clears their record, but, ... guns plus "angelic" ex felons... =not a good mix. But truly that doent make things ANY Better in my opinion
Of course.YMMV
