I have been trying to find the words to explain this and i still don't think I'm fully ready. But you have to get on the horse some time..

I am listing this here because, if it wasn't for several members of this community pushing me to join my local scene, this never would have happened.

I joined my local scene a little over a year ago, and this past november, I was gifted with my first vest. I was told it was because of my work with the community and my skills with charitable fundraisers. I wear my vest every day. I take a huge amount of pride in whats offered to me as a gift, and adore it. I also have decided to pledge to a Leather Back patch club this year and hope that my journey continues in a favorable way.

I wanted to thank the few people who helped me make this happen, because with out the constant reminder to join the scene i wouldn't have found the place I consider home. Nor earned this honor...

Because there is not a "local scene" here, I am unfamiliar with being gifted with leathers.

Would someone please explain the idea to me?

In the leather community, its a practice (one that several others could explain better) That after one works and offers their time and services that another gives a gift of a leather object, to symbolize their service to the community. At least thats how It was explained to me when it was gifted.

Thank You all, I am still learning and getting to know the Leather Life, I understand a lot of the Dynamics and greatly enjoy them. Im still trying to process how I got to this point which many of my friends just simply say "Kiddo, You have earned it leave it at that.."
