Bo has no mind for passwords so I suggested a few to him.

Harder!

Deeper!

Pull my hair you bastard!

I am going to have so much fun with this...hehehe!

outlier -> RE: Strange passwords (12/27/2011 9:30:44 PM)

I could see where you would have fun, but!

You should NEVER use a dictionary word as a password.
always use a mixture of letters and numbers and mix case.

There are many programs that test passwords using dictionary
words, never use them!

I sometimes use a sort of dual binary. Nothing but 0's, 1's, a's and b's.

1 ... 2 ... 3 ... 4 ... 5 ... What kind of password is that?!?! That's a password a moron would use on his luggage!

Remind me to go change the password on my luggage?

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Yeah. Try to brute force that kind of password.

stellauk -> RE: Strange passwords (12/28/2011 1:11:39 AM)

I use Polish words..

przypuszczam

wzbronione

and sometimes use specific Warsaw addresses (personal to me).

Al. Ujazdowskie 42 m 58 --->>> alujazdowskie42m58

Bitwy 1920r. 44 m 64 ----->>> bitwy1920r44m64

There is more than one way of cracking a password, and different methods, of which using dictionary words and 'brute force' are the two most popular methods.

I learned this when translating a manual for system admins for Fedora Core Linux from Polish into English.

The only reliable way of ensuring you have a safe password is to periodically change it.

Someone got it! Thank you!

DaddySatyr -> RE: Strange passwords (12/28/2011 1:13:57 AM)

Truthfully, I use a password (usually) that's three different languages and just to be on the safe side, all three words are mis-spelled. I've never been hacked.

*knocks on wood*

Peace and comfort,

Michael

GreedyTop -> RE: Strange passwords (12/28/2011 2:17:11 AM)

I can't believe I was the only one!!

I know. I feel like my joke was an epic fail and I think Blacksword thought I was ridiculing them (I swear, I wasn't and I apologize for the mis-understanding).

I strongly recommend people search out and watch Mel Brooks movies!

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Greedy, without looking it up, any guess on my second signature quote?

Not getting that one, Michael... at a guess, Young Frankenstein?

"Pulp Fiction", when John Travolta is trying to convince Samuel L. Jackson that he should try some bacon.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

ahhh! ok, I've only seen that twice, haven't gotten the dialogue down ;)

Ya, but how do you remember it? You can't - so you write it down, and there it is, waiting to be found.

Strangely, that is not a scene that sticks out in my mind.

MissImmortalPain -> RE: Strange passwords (12/28/2011 5:14:01 AM)

What Jules actually said was ... "Hey, sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie, but I'd never know 'cause I wouldn't eat the filthy motherfucker". I imagine Satyer was being polite in his quoteing. Most of my passwords look much like blackswords and I don't have any issue with remembering them. If you convert your password to bianary l33t speak than all you have to do is remember the word and how to convert it, than type it.

ashjor911 -> RE: Strange passwords (12/28/2011 6:45:00 AM)

use some Symbols into your pass, like @#$%^&*()
in case your PC get hacked its harder for the hacker to get the meaning of these symbols.

use one or 2 of them & the password will apper "if someone hack it" but the symbols will appear as spaces...
