While I’m barely able to put gingerbread on the table for my family, my C.E.O. is happily obese from ham and candy canes—some might even say jolly. Each morning, I squeeze into a crowded commuter snowmobile, while my boss, usually blotto from spiked eggnog, swans around in a nine-reindeer sports sled with a booming mega-jingle sound system. I get 18 days off a year, none during the holidays. He works for one night. In 1960, he made about 10 times the salary of the average Workshop elf, and now it’s 475 times the amount—not including milk-and-cookie bonuses related to toys delivered. Or, you know, not delivered.

Translation:  "Boo Hoo... I'm so jealous of someone else who likely worked harder, stayed in school longer, took greater risks/chances, and probably a dozen other things than I did earlier in life -- but I STILL want the SAME things, despite doing NOTHING to deserve them.  Boo Hoo... Boo Hoo... poor little me."

Hey, hey easy now...this is the great rich capitalist peasant talking. Nobody deserves anything but equal treatment under the law. So...

Real translation...I get rich enough in free speech and soon...I, I make the laws. I have so much money...er free speech, whose 'speech' do 'they' hear. Not you. They 'hear' me. Hey get over it...corporatism is alive and well raping the public and...the investor.

Now that's working hard people. Hey I work hard so I can pay for my laws. Go out and get that great old American elixir...a second and third job. Then maybe you too...could buy a law or two.

I see you still haven't asked why I'm involved with OWS.  I know you really don't care.  You're more comfortable clinging to your misconceptions.

I was certain YOU didn't know what you were fapping on about, gave YOU an opportunity to prove otherwise, but alas... you failed -- so my original premise stands. [8|]

Ha! I kinda knew that was coming. But I started it, so I won't complain.

The thing is, I have not been very enamored of the protesters myself. The noise, the drum-beating, the trash, the cost burden, and the inability of people to enjoy their occupied parks and open spaces, not just for a day of protest but interminably, offends me. And not only that, but the sheer lack of focus and organization left we wondering for weeks what the hell the movement even wanted, besides to blow off steam.

Frankly, I think there are more effective ways to influence Congress, and I think that to a degree they've ended up shooting themselves in the foot by choosing the "occupy" route. But that said, what the movement wants has taken shape in some clear proposals. Those proposals have merit. Serious merit. And I think we need to separate the noise from the substance.

I would be interested to know which of the following proposals you object to:
Pass HR 1489, the "Return to Prudent Banking Act" (reinstates many of the provisions of Glass-Steagall).
Investigate and prosecute the financial crimes which were contributory to the current economic crisis.
Eliminate completely the influence of lobbyists and the practice of lobbyists writing legislation.
Make it illegal for former government regulators to accept money or employment from the corporations they regulated...
and for ex-corporate executives to accept government positions regulating their former company (the "revolving door").
Eliminate completely the legal fiction that corporations are entitled to rights as "persons".
K.

Parts of the first, the last three, and the second presumes there were crimes.
