Hell, I used to watch Soul Train when I was a kid. There was some damn good classic Motown on that show and I'm so white I glow in the dark. Does anyone know if it's still on? If they played old school Motown, I'd still watch it.

It plays upon stereotypes, but I do not see any overt racism or an appeal to institutional racism. On the other hand, coded language is often tough to crack. This is a good question for a linguist.

Parliament/Funkadelic ruled :) and the fact that two stone white boys watched it doesnt change the fact that their demographic was still 90% (a guess) black, just as Bandstand's was predominantly white. (In fact SoulTrain was probably past most white kids curfew!)

Because we were "whitey" we got to watch it on a colored TV. (coloured telly for you Brats, err I mean Brits) Yea, this ain't even close to racist. If you want racist try some old David Allen Coe. T^T
