I read an interesting article yesterday. There is a new software programme coming out that will tell how much photoshop work has been done to any photograph.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE photo shop for touching up my work (I am a photographer). It's great for enhancing, cleaning up, etc........but it's gotten to the point where it is way way over done.

And before photoshop and computers, people would airbrush photos. It's only the technology that has changed, not human behavior.

It's just fascinating to me how you can make a person who isn't real. :p haha
I think the Kim Catrall one was most shocking to me.

In the second link, most of them look better before retouching, especially Clooney. And the one on the right on the 3rd row is just plain badly done. The touch-up looks like a cartoon not a photo.

I think that is the case now with a lot of ads and magazine work.........they just over do it.

I can understand smoothing out a clothing wrinkle here and there, making a pimple disappear or getting rid of stray hairs or clothing threads, but it's going way too far now.

I really liked the guy on the third row with the crooked smile in his "before" -- like all the others, he had much more character before they edited him and made him symmetrical.

Yeah, I agree. I think it just kinda plasticized them. Took away all their character and what makes them, them.

And that grumpy old lady in the blue shirt, clear to the right........if they were going to go to all that trouble the least they could have done was put a smile on her grouchy face! She looks MEAN!

there's no wonder that the next generation are trying to live upto impossible standards. i also prefer the before photos with what makes the person actually them.

Where's the point? You meet in person and somebody asks you "Who the hell are you? I wanted to meet the girl from the picture!" Can anybody imagine a bigger downer than that?

They always make Rachael Ray look phony on magazines and ads and much skinnier than she is and she isn't fat just average weight.
