LOL

At 43 percent, according to Gallup’s daily presidential approval rating tracking poll, Obama’s approval has sunk even below Jimmy Carter’s approval at this point in his presidency. Carter had a 51 percent approval rating during this period.

Well, they are mistaken.....they have the numbers right overall but the nitty gritty technicals are pretty fucking innumerate.

The chimp was less popular than Carter, then?
Weird: you didn't see the neocon massive bigging that one up when Bush minor's approval polls fell below forty, did you?

Do we really need another thread on this bullshit?

Dubya was re-elected with a lower approval rating.

servantforuse -> RE: Obama approval rating falls below Carter’s (11/30/2011 4:00:31 PM)

With the unemployment rate hanging close to 9%, the chimp that now occupies the White house will not be there for another term.

mnottertail -> RE: Obama approval rating falls below Carter’s (11/30/2011 4:06:11 PM)

St. Wrinklemeats was close to 8% and he had about a 4% inflation....and he was re-elected.

Gallup has one too.... would be nice if people actually knew what they were talking about

And who is going to beat him?

The GOP has a field of clowns.

Gingrich is now the frontrunner?  The man who resigned in disgrace and also has a disgraceful personal history?

Give me a break, keep dreaming!

LOL BACK... RO... with all due respect, you are overlooking one key feature here. Jimmy Carter only took a hit well after this period and his approval rating during this period had actually been pretty good because at the time we had a BRAND NEW (nov 4 1979) hostage crisis going on. I think it might mean more if you were citing his approval rating say 7 or 8 months after that, when the Iranians were making light of his attempts to negotiate and Regan was the ticket for sure. And John Anderson showing up.... it was really a combination of THOSE things that screwed Carter.
Any Idea what his approval rating was in say, July or august of 80?
Or even early May of 80 once the rescue attempt? I think relationally those would still be off ... but as far as numbers corresponding to a time? They would be better measure than at a time when sympathy for the president was still running high.

No, they are more comparable than at a time after Carter's Iran problems because at this point in time the main issue for both is the economy.

Lucylastic -> RE: Obama approval rating falls below Carter’s (11/30/2011 5:39:02 PM)

he hasnt gone above 43 % for the past six months, neither has he gone below 38 so he has actually gone up in the polls since october. SOOOO considering all the crap the miserable want to believe... its a bit premature to say much of anything other than his approval rating is up 5% since october.

Sure thing... name your own issue.

Sorry Willbe, I really DON'T think that's correct. His drops in popularity followed Iran more closely than Reagans bogus claims he would do something for the economy.
While the economy was a big issue, his coffin nails were from Iran

Well, I'm not sure any of the GOP candidates are.

The oxygen is surely not getting to their brains.

But if you want I'll volunteer to hold a mirror underneath their mouths so we can find out if they are just brain dead or if we need to have a funereal.

We know Blowboy can breathe. We can hear the rattle as he tries to catch his breath after going down on his corporate cronies.

Be careful when you describe trends. It is incredibly deceptive to describe this as the President's poll numbers "sinking" to Carter's approval. In reality, the event is caused by a dramatic increase of Carter's approval rating over 30 or so days, while Obama's approval ratings have shown a very slight uptick. While the numbers you cite are accurate, your description of the events that created them is not very honest.
