...who observed illegal behavior, reported it to the crew, and emailed a relative to alert the authorities.

Kudos to the MA state police for their statement as well.

Reminder that we cannot discuss specifics as that would violate TOS.

The man and I were just discussing that.

And I totally agree with you.

I wonder who he works for.

Penn State. Syracuse, now University of Utah.

*sighs and goes off to google keywords*
Now you've got me curious.

ETA
Found it. I agree, nice to see people are still willing to step outside of what immediately affects them to stop something wrong.

I find it funny that his lawyer argued for lower bail because he has no criminal history and has been a professor for 14 years. The bail (which I think was low to start) is/should be based on the crime. This was a "smoking gun" kind of thing, not really much room for a defense. He's lucky that bail was allowed at all in my opinion.

I was thrilled to see that he had such poor self control that he had to watch it in public, AND that someone took the initiative to report him.

I am really happy they used the cell phone camera to catch him in the act and then to email the
evidence to someone off the plane.  This eliminated all possibility of denial and put the authorities
in a position where they had to act.  The cat was well out of the bag.

FR

He's looking at this shit on a plane ? WTF. If he dies soon I'll have to put him in for a Darwin award.

And this is an educator ?

T^T

FR,

Corollary Question:  Since he was going to a conference related to his
teaching at the university, what is he doing flying first class?  Is the school
state funded?  If it is, how often do people on "official business" fly first class
on taxpayer's money?  If it is privately funded do their donors know?

We can be pretty sure he won't be anymore, but how many others are?

Frequent flyer miles can be used to upgrade tickets.

But on a plane with the person next to you unable not to see it? Stupid in the extreme.

Maybe he forgot his privacy screen... or he thought it afforded him more privacy that it really did. Either way, Im glad he was moronic enough to get caught.

What IS going on in our colleges these days?
