30 years and 25,000 is excessive? Jeeze. I would hate to see the slap on the wrist you would give this guy if you were the judge. There is a point where things a person does are so disgusting and uncalled for that there needs to be a certain type of punishment to really crack them upside the head. Its either that, or dispose of this guy with one bullet.

I've absolute no sympathy nor compassion for him. It's just that first thought was people get less for rape and disfiguring physical assault or committing a murder. As a proud parent of three boys this incident hits a chord with me and i absolute agree a punishment and message must be sent. In comparison to punishment for other crimes felt it was a tad harsh or punishment for other crimes perhaps too lax. Regardless i personally think castration as part of his punishment would be appropriate. That also would send a message and one reflective of his crime.

If it had been a random man taking videos in a random bathroom, that would have been something that would warrant, maybe, a lesser sentence. But seeing as this man was the Principal of the school, using his position and the trust of the students and parents to do this thing is what warrants such a judgment. Students should feel safe in their school. This man trounced all over that in a big and disgusting way.

This was the man the students were to turn too, the one they are told to trust when they cannot even trust their parents (think child or sexual abuse at home). These acts by this one man will have every parent questioning their own school, their own principal. His punishment wasnt harsh enough.

The sentence was probably high because he was abusing his position of power. That makes a crime like this especially bad. And in regards to sentences for other crimes, perhaps they are too lax.

Agrees with everyone. (except the OP, sorry) Child porn and an abuse of power absolutley call for a "harsh" sentence.

It does bring up an interesting point though. The principal's sentence was not too stiff. We need to make all child abuse crimes have actual consequences.

Wow... 315 years seems illogical to me but certainly it highlights exact as the article conveys... "No prison term can undo the pain and suffering Mr. Bostic has caused," Breuer said. "But today's sentence sends a strong message that child sexual exploitation will be punished severely."

Gawd, what a fucked up individual... and only 90 days! Third degree burns will have effect for remainder of her life. Even more disgusting is his denial and interference in the seeking of immediate medical attention. He should be lowered into a cauldron of scalding water so he discovers first had the effects of what he was seeking.

In that there was no touching or physical aspect, it at first struck me as harsh in comparison to sentences for other crimes. Then again in being a principal, as you and others pointed out, he was in a position of responsibility, guardianship and trust; not just some random individual.
