Close the Department of Education... thats all... nothing more... except its odd how he didnt specify that it would only be at the federal level. Each state has a Department of Education as well.

President Ronald Reagan promised during the 1980 presidential election to eliminate the Department of Education as a cabinet post,[9] but he was not able to do so with a Democratic House of Representatives. In the 1982 State of the Union Address, he pledged:
“ The budget plan I submit to you on Feb. 8 will realize major savings by dismantling the Department of Education.[10]

Recall that?

Employees 5,000 (2007)
Annual budget For 2006, the ED discretionary budget was $56 billion and the mandatory budget contained $23.4 billion. As of 2011, the discretionary budget is $69.9 billion.

DOD budget...

2010 689 Billion.

1/10th of the budget compared to defense.

1.2 Trillion spent on the Iraq and Afghan wars.... http://costofwar.com/en/

But, yeah, MAJOR savings. Right?

How I adore your fantasy world.

Your a liar, the government spent 900.2 Billion in 2011 on education, nice try trying to compare the federal education budget to the federal defense budget.

Tell me Liar, how much do the states spend on defense, compared to education? Here's a hint, ZERO!
http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/year_spending_2011USbn_13bs1n_30#usgs302

The federal govt. doesn't spend $900 Billion...on any single budget. Your source shows the fed. educ. spending for FY 2011 to be at $129 billion and total fed. defense dept. spending at $903 billion...but also including retirement and Veterans. Double the height of the cold war.

I'd like to know how they came up with anything like $482 billion in welfare. They must be adding on the little bit they actually pay to the people, to corporate welfare. Ya think ?

Welfare includes ...

Amazing what they consider "Welfare".

According to this... I wonder how many posters here, US posters that is, who have been on welfare and never knew.

But no mention of the $4 billion a year in subsidies and tax breaks for oil companies - or did Obama succeed in ending that?

tazzygirl -> RE: It's amazing how public schools brainwash children (11/21/2011 7:58:58 AM)

Of course there is no mention. Because corporations arent people... oops... but they are.

Thats the problem with sites like that, They can be twisted and manipulated in many, many ways. The idea that unemployment is welfare is ridiculous. workman's comp is insurance, not welfare.

Someone (rob) needs to think a bit more and react a bit less.

What question?
Unemployment is to welfare what Veterans is to defense... The OP CLEARLY states...
quote:

There should be no public schools, no federal or state Departments of Education and all kids should be home-schooled so we wouldn't be wasting tax money - right?

YOU brought up how much money was spent on education at the FEDERAL level, not the OP...

Not only did you compare 2006 levels of spending to 2010, you compared Federal levels of education verses TOTAL defense spending...

I pointed out the fallacy of your argument, you were wrong yesterday, and you're wrong today.

Considerably more than the district you were in then.

I guess that qualifies Wilbe to run a pawn shop

mnottertail -> RE: It's amazing how public schools brainwash children (11/21/2011 11:12:20 AM)

well, at least that shows more ambition than being a crooked cop.

It must really piss you off to get raided by cops, after all you paid cashee money for all that stolen property

mnottertail -> RE: It's amazing how public schools brainwash children (11/21/2011 11:49:19 AM)

NAH,  they can't sieze anything I don't allow them ( I fall under the bank regs, not pawn regs).   But  the cops know who is fencing stolen goods, and then without telling any of the people who buy them unknowingly  and they steal them and take them home.

Cops are the most corrupt members of society, and the largest criminal class behind politicians.  Like I said, no ambition.
