My Hyvee store carries Sparboe eggs -- their cartons have the nerve to say "farm raised." pfft.

Well, duh, that's a bit like saying "Our apples are all grown on trees!"

Technically, if it involves raising animals for food they can still call it a farm even if only the smell of shit tells you it's not a factory.  I've worked on pig farms, which is why I don't buy pork that's not certified free range organic... I know what the alternative is.

One reason I want to move to the country is to get back to raising my own food, so I know where it came from and how.

One cant stop all the ugliness in the world, but you cant give up trying to help it be a better place.
I know im gonna get laughed at , but its my truth.

I dunno why anyone would laugh at you for that. That's the only way to live, as far as I'm concerned.

Who gives a fuck, they are chickens.

Speaks exactly to your character Willbeur, or should I say lack of any?

And also a striking degree of short sightedness, not to reflect that such production processes might have consequences for the consumer's health.  You are, as has been noted, what you eat.

In the UK this sort of practices led to such levels of salmonella in eggs and meat that even the Conservative government had to step in and enforce some elementary good practice.  Not out of concern for chickens, but concern for voters.
