joker6067 -> good acoustic music (11/17/2011 9:09:56 AM)

i'm learning the guitar right now. and as some people may know sometimes it's fun to break up the monotany of of grinding through simple songs by actually learning a popular tune

i'm considering trying to learn blind melon's "no rain"

and soul asylum's runaway train

so if you have a link to a great acoustic song i'd love to hear it :)

I remember this was a pretty fun song to learn when I started out on guitar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXIuAz7aryo [:D]

This is a very fine one:
When An Old Cricketer Leaves The Crease
Or just google Roy Harper. There's plenty of magnificent unplugged stuff on Stormcock, Valentine, and Lifemask...

Anything from Nirvana's unplugged session. This is my fave though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhcttcXcRYY

Although, I am not a fan of Neil Young, I am told he uses simple cords and rarely uses more that 4 cords in a song

Cheers, I hope this helps.

Of course, he also uses quite a bit of feedback which can be tricky with an acoustic guitar...

(My My Hey Hey and Pocohantas are both pretty simple acoustic songs with slow tempos, though...)

When you get more advanced: Leo Kottke.

lazarus1983 -> RE: good acoustic music (11/20/2011 6:45:08 AM)

Bruce Dickinson's 'Arc of Space'.

How about John Martyn? I won't suggest his awe inspiring version of "I'd rather Be The Devil" as that needs an echoplex, but he did a glorious solo acoustic guitar arrangement of Singing In The Rain, and May You Never is a thing of rare beauty...
