Masta808 -> Karl Rove VS the 99% (11/16/2011 3:15:26 PM)

Anti-Wall Street protesters heckled political strategist Karl Rove during his speech at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore Tuesday night and were ejected from the event, a university spokesman said on Wednesday

Karl Rove is THE MAN. He is right. What gave the 99% protesters the right to Occupy America? Dont say the 1st Amendment because that only applies to the PEOPLE and the PEOPLE are corporations or people backed by Corporations. In Karl Rove's own words he side it right. "If you believe in the 1st amendment, demonstrated by shutting up" Learn to be quiet while your being screwed over by the people with the money and power to do it. If you dont we cant protect you. So be that good little rape victim keep your mouth shut while screw you over and go quietly sob in the corner. After all the way acted and dressed you deserved to be raped of your rights.

Karl Rove is the typical Republican, the first amendment does not apply to anyone that disagrees with them.

I'm no fan of Karl Rove, but he got it exactly right when he said: "If you believe in the First Amendment, and free speech, then demonstrate it by shutting up and waiting until the Q and A session and ask me anything you want."

Disrupting the event by shouting and heckling isn't protected speech, it's assholery.

You sure hit the nail on the head Kirata...The Occupy protesters are no better than the Tea Party protesters that shouted down speakers at the town hall meetings about healthcare...Pointing this out to them is futile.

"members of #OccupyBaltimore mic check Karl Rove during a speech at Johns Hopkins
"Mic Check! Karl Rove is the Architect. The Architect of OccupyIraq. The Architect of OccupyAfghanistan. The Architect of tax cuts for the 1%. The 99% think it's time to #Occupy the Architect. To #Occupy the Architecture. Occupy Wall Street. Occupy Baltimore. Occupy Johns Hopkins. Occupy America. Liberate America. Occupy everything. Occupy everywhere. Occupy together. We are the 99%.""

I love a parade!

I suppose... not civilized like being a resident and registered voter in Texas, but turning around and producing a fraudulent attack ad and spending $600k in Massachusetts and RI to air them in an effort to completely queer an election you have no business being involved in.

But it's true, heckling at an event you pay to get into is in fact worse 'manners'. Te other is just tampering with elections.

I was at a town hall in Portsmouth where some downeaster was shouting "nigger" during the big applause volleys and his own friends dragged him out. Karl Rove wasn't there to tell him to respect the President, though... I think he was still laying low during the filming of "Fair Game".

Um, no. Just because they both contain the word "occupy" doesn't mean you can equate them. One occupy involved lots of people getting shot or bombed, and the other one involves mostly civil disobedience and camping.

Gee whiz, I never thought of that. But luckily for me, an analogy depends similarity not equivalence. And oddly enough, while they proclaim they're on "our" side and doing all this for us, the people who have to deal with them every day want them to leave.

More to the point, where were you? You're starting to remind me of Rove.

(the "starting to" part is a joke)

Bingo.

To which I will add: All the wordage about equivalency is bullshit. It is nothing more than childish "you do it to," guilt by association. The fact that some tea party dinks disrupt town meetings is not relevant to this particular situation (or vice-versa). The only commonality is that some people are assholes who like to hear themselves shout, think that the rules of civil discourse don't apply to them, and get a cheap ego stroke off on the notion that they are fighting evil. Whether it is tea party dinks disrupting a town meeting or OWS dinks disrupting a speaking engagment the response to both situations should be the same:

"YOU ARE NOT SPECIAL SO SHUT THE FUCK UP, SIT YOUR ASSES DOWN AND WAIT YOUR FUCKING TURN OR GET THE FUCK OUT YOU RUDE, OBNOXIOUS, SELF FLATTERING, PIECES OF SHIT!"

Some people think the constitution is the supreme law of the u.s....which does in fact make them special. Shouting your opposition to the supreme law of the u.s. would seem to indicate you were some where besides your asigned seat during sixth grade civics.
