I've heard about things like this, and in some forums I've frequented, I find that there are some people who seem too suspiciously pro-government.

Well, we have one around here who vanished on election day, only to reappear the very same day Obama announced he was running for re-election in '12, but that's more the pattern of a paid party agitator/spokeshole, than anything else...

Zonie, the rule of thumb I was taught, was that in a room full of revolutionaries, the most militantly outspoken one is probably the undercover cop.

VERY good point.

Yes, I've heard that, too. Of course, the internet is global, so I wonder if there are agents from other governments doing the same thing.

Pretty often.  They are breaking the foreign agent law if they post on US websites to  engage in political activities for or in the interests of a foreign principal, or act in a public relations capacity for a foreign principal, without revealing who they are as it is.

quote:

The Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) was enacted in 1938. FARA is a disclosure statute that requires persons acting as agents of foreign principals in a political or quasi-political capacity to make periodic public disclosure of their relationship with the foreign principal, as well as activities, receipts and disbursements in support of those activities.  Disclosure of the required information facilitates evaluation by the government and the American people of the statements and activities of such persons in light of their function as foreign agents. The FARA Registration Unit of the Counterespionage Section (CES) in the National Security Division (NSD) is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Act.

FARA

Canada is discussing a similar type of law.

Not that the DOJ ever enforce this any more then they would this proposed thing, unless they wanted to go after a certain person or organization.

Not that the US isn't as guilty of it as anyone. In addition to the CIA, the US military released a request for bid for software that can let them control up to 500 accounts for each user on websites.

Steven, what do you expect from a guy who sues the states for enforcing immigration laws that (he's) supposed to be enforcing *but isn't?*

This is more of your intellectual dishonesty.
You have been informd on numerous occasions that local law enforcement is empowered to enforce federal law.
You have also been informed that the penality for hiring those who cross the border illegally is $250,000 and five years in the federal slam for each violation.

I hope this passes so I can be one of the tens of millions of internet users who are in "violation" of this law! "Come get me copper!"

That is pretty much what sonny barger said...but when they came for him he walked out like a little girl on prom night head down and hands up.

Where are they going to hold people after they arrest them for this?

Real simple...they let all those in the joint for smoking pot out and suddenly you have a 70% vacancy rate and 70% more prosecutors and 70% more judges.
The math ain't that hard.

Thompson, Sonny Barger? How many Hell's Angels are there, 5, 6 thousand?pu

Sonny barger (unlike you)has a verifiable reputation for being a "bad ass".
He and thee made the same "come and get me copper" pronouncement.
I pointed out that when "push came to shove" his "come and get me copper" attitude evaporated as I believe will yours.

A 70% vacancy rate? Out of what, 2 million? Oh that'll help.

Do you think slamming 2 million of the leadership would not have a chilling effect on those below them?

The latest - they're planning to claim that any violation of the TOS of any website could be considered a federal crime.  No basis in existing law or in sanity - the entire point is to give them leverage when chasing cybercriminals.  In other words, they want to criminalize the whole damn cyberworld so they can threaten people.

Simply misrepresenting on the Net would become a federal crime.

Well, there goes five inches of cock length....

YES!!!

lets pass that and then lets also pass a law
that all political debate by the candidates
be put on the internet by themselves.

Oh fuck yeh!

Oh wait they are the MOB I forgot, that only applies to
the "everyone else"

Thompson, are you describing a communist country? "Chilling effect?"
How long do you think it would take to get all of them out of office and into a federal pen?
The thing is there are no "leaders", they're all leaders and they're all soldiers.
And another thing, jails are made to keep people in, not to keep people out.
This "Obama" government is becoming scarier and scarier by the week.

The u.s. has slammed mass quantities before (1 million +).
What would stop them now.

Thompson, we have people all over the country demonstrating now and I support them.
If they tried to pull this silly B.S. how many people would be demonstrating then? It would s they say, "go viral."
How would you stop them? Easy, start burning buildings to  the ground all over the country. And do it everyday until this whole regime resigned.
You think they care about lawsuits? What they understand is violence and The People no longer listening to them,  that's what makes the suits afraid.
They don't give a shit about lawsuits! They can go on for five years and then nothing changes.
Thomas Jefferson had it right about governments, boy was he right!
There is *so much* corruption in this govt. that it simply can no longer be fixed.

I think you may be on to something here...lets wait and see how it plays.

How would you stop them?

I hope you are speaking of the metaphorical "you" cuz I would not lift a finger to stop the protests.

Easy, start burning buildings to the ground all over the country. And do it everyday until this whole regime resigned.

I am not sure that would be productive but history tells us that it has happened in the past.

You think they care about lawsuits? What they understand is violence and The People no longer listening to them, that's what makes the suits afraid.

It is a big step from protest to insurection.

They don't give a shit about lawsuits! They can go on for five years and then nothing changes.

I remaine unconvinced that violence is ineviteble.
