“We are taking all threats seriously and will be taking appropriate measures,”

The city of Toronto says it is taking seriously a threat by the hacker collective Anonymous to interfere with the city’s website if officials move in on Occupy Toronto.

Toronto’s branch of the worldwide occupation movement is based in St. James Park, where a small tent city sprung up last month. Occupiers are attempting to raise awareness about the gulf between the rich and the poor, but their campsite has drawn criticism from area residents and Mayor Rob Ford, who has suggested it is time for the group to “move on.”

On the weekend, Anonymous, an amorphous collective of hackers, threatened to have the city “removed from the Internet” if it follows through on plans to evict campers.

“We are taking all threats seriously and will be taking appropriate measures,” city spokeswoman Margaret Dougherty responded Monday, though she would not elaborate on what specific measures the city would be taking, or how much it may cost."

Wow huh? (Apologies if someone already posted this, I didnt find it.)

Id love to see Rob Ford hung up by his testicles from the bell tower of St James
some people were talking yesterday about moving to queens park as it is a "national" park not within the confines of Fords ugly mitts.
Im in withthe OTO And Obaystreet crowd but twitter seems to be down at the moment... oopth
They have to take it seriously they risk getting more supporters to the cause if they fuck up and dont cover their arses.

From the level of intelligence displayed here taking all of Canada off the internet should be no great loss.

That's a refreshing... any municipality not taking an explicit threat from hackers these days need a top to bottom house clearing.
Time to break out the big can of TCP/IP Bondo.

I'd like to see the OC off the net first if anyone's playing requests.... websurfing without the INVENTORS OF SHALLOW present in the search engines might indeed be a refreshing change of pace.
Hey, I am getting reports from Occupy Irvine of "some old freak in a mercedes" (don't get steamed, that was the young lady's description) has been trolling the younger girls trying to lure them into the car. And I immediately thought of you. How's that workin'  out for ya?

Well at least somebody is standing up for people's right to protest and petition. The city deserves to be hacked if they attack their own people and deny them the right to occupy THEIR OWN DAMN COUNTRY.

Toronto Eviction Notice
The city said it would make its move on Occupy Toronto sometime this week, and Rob Ford offered yesterday that the protesters at St. James Park would be given notice “soon.” But with the PR motive for playing nice with the protesters essentially evaporated—after other Canadian cities cleared out their own Occupy movements and, most importantly, New York City forced Occupy Wall Street protesters out of Zuccotti Park early this morning—the city decided the time had arrived to serve Occupy Toronto with an eviction notice of its own. Back in New York, there are already reports that Wall Street protesters will be allowed back into the park (albeit without tents and their belongings). But we’re guessing the last thing Ford wants is for the Toronto eviction to be temporary.

Judge David Brown, who granted #OccupyToronto a temporary injunction this evening, is one & same who ruled against G20 LRAD use!

It is just the British North American Garrison of Ontario, and usually the inmates of   their capital Toronto that are the trouble.

TORONTO, Ont. - In a nutshell, Justice David Brown will rule by Saturday which set of rights should prevail, the right of municipalities to enforce bylaws, or the constitutional rights of occupiers to freely assemble and express themselves.

This right is considered a fundamental plank of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which grants and protects all Canadians a number of basic rights and freedoms.

Susan Ursel, acting council for the Occupy Toronto movement, was able to convince court yesterday that charter rights were being tested by the eviction notices.

The lawyer says she will provide further evidence to the judge on Friday.

"I'm going to argue what I argued today, but I'm going to give him a lot more cases and a lot more argument and a lot more evidence, so that I hope I can persuade him that the right thing to do will be to allow the encampment to stay," Ursel said.

City lawyers say they will also present their case for enforcing municipal bylaws, but no further action will be taken on the occupiers until the judge rules on Saturday.

Mayor Rob Ford said he'll follow the judges ruling.

"If that's what the judge said, then that's what the judge said." Ford said. "We'll see you Saturday morning and we'll take it from there."

Meanwhile, up to 13 city councillors have signed a letter directed at the mayor, requesting no further action be taken until the council meets on Nov. 29.

I just wish I could find a recipe for the old B&M Indian Pudding... the kids took a shine to it and I bought two cans at the store some "new englandy" brand... I used both cans and thought nothing of it. Then next time I was in the store I looked at the price this time... $4.79 a 16 oz can!!!!
Now I am determined to find a recipe... I can probably make it from scratch better anyway.
