Iamsemisweet -> Occupy Portland ends, rather peacefully (11/14/2011 10:00:58 AM)

Both the occupiers and the police behaved admirably.  Although an arbitrary deadline was set of 12:01 Sunday morning, the police did not use violence to mindlessly enforce the deadline.  Instead, they waited until parks could be cleared with relatively little danger to either the occupiers or themselves, and used a minimal amount of force.
When a member of occupy PDX threw a firecracker into a group of mounted police, the other occupiers apprehended him, and turned him in.  They largely policed themselves,. and prevented others from becoming violent, insisting they were a peaceful movement.

It's SO not over in Portland. And yeah, while the folks there remained peaceful, they already have plans to retake Portland. There's a GA going on later today where I believe that a multi-pronged strategy will emerge.

Same kind of thing is going on in Oakland:
"occupyoakland Occupy Oakland EMERGENCY RECONVERGENCE PLAN FOR #OCCUPYOAKLAND: Meet at 4 PM at Main Library (14th and Madison). #ows #occupysf #occupycal"

The fat Lady is a long way from her Aria[:D]

So the Occupy Shit-Bags FINALLY pull off an event without RAPE, CONSPIRING TO HIDE RAPE, RACISM, RIOTING, VIOLENCE, VANDALISM, TERRORISM, LOOTING, or MURDER.  Well gee... give the pathetic loser-scum a lollipop. [8|]

ANARCHY
by Frank Miller
(Comic artist - Sin City, 300, The Dark Knight Returns)
11.7.2011

Everybody’s been too damn polite about this nonsense:

The “Occupy” movement, whether displaying itself on Wall Street or in the streets of Oakland (which has, with unspeakable cowardice, embraced it) is anything but an exercise of our blessed First Amendment. “Occupy” is nothing but a pack of louts, thieves, and rapists, an unruly mob, fed by Woodstock-era nostalgia and putrid false righteousneOhss. These clowns can do nothing but harm America.

“Occupy” is nothing short of a clumsy, poorly-expressed attempt at anarchy, to the extent that the “movement” – HAH! Some “movement”, except if the word “bowel” is attached - is anything more than an ugly fashion statement by a bunch of iPhone, iPad wielding spoiled brats who should stop getting in the way of working people and find jobs for themselves.

This is no popular uprising. This is garbage. And goodness knows they’re spewing their garbage – both politically and physically – every which way they can find.

Wake up, pond scum. America is at war against a ruthless enemy.

Maybe, between bouts of self-pity and all the other tasty tidbits of narcissism you’ve been served up in your sheltered, comfy little worlds, you’ve heard terms like al-Qaeda and Islamicism.

And this enemy of mine — not of yours, apparently - must be getting a dark chuckle, if not an outright horselaugh - out of your vain, childish, self-destructive spectacle.

In the name of decency, go home to your parents, you losers. Go back to your mommas’ basements and play with your Lords Of Warcraft.

Or better yet, enlist for the real thing. Maybe our military could whip some of you into shape.

They might not let you babies keep your iPhones, though. Try to soldier on.

Schmucks.

Is your needle stuck?

Hillwilliam -> RE: Occupy Portland ends, rather peacefully (11/14/2011 12:27:36 PM)

Well, isn't it just speshull. Trotting out its little hypocritical comic book writer again.

I'm just wondering what was in the syringe attached to that needle.

Iamsemisweet -> RE: Occupy Portland ends, rather peacefully (11/14/2011 12:34:15 PM)

Now, why should I care what the author of 300 thinks about anything?

Hillwilliam -> RE: Occupy Portland ends, rather peacefully (11/14/2011 12:35:35 PM)

That's what I was wondering Iass.

Crappy movie too. What a cinematically overdone fuck up of a great story.

Isnt there a rule against multiple postings like that?

You mean shit that stupid or just crossposting in general?

tazzygirl -> RE: Occupy Portland ends, rather peacefully (11/14/2011 12:41:12 PM)

Crossposting in general. Its too difficult to moderate that type of stupidity.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Occupy Portland ends, rather peacefully (11/14/2011 12:54:12 PM)

I'm pretty sure there is but it's too entertaining to report.

tazzygirl -> RE: Occupy Portland ends, rather peacefully (11/14/2011 12:55:42 PM)

Oh I wasnt gonna report it. Im having way too much fun!

Oh? Well, city officials (not to mention the entire Occupy movement) seem to believe otherwise.

"Oakland Mayor Jean Quan's chief legal adviser resigned early this morning after what he called a "tragically unnecessary" police raid of the Occupy Oakland camp."

Iamsemisweet -> RE: Occupy Portland ends, rather peacefully (11/14/2011 1:18:26 PM)

Of course, my OP is talking about PORTLAND, not Oakland.  Which, you might have figured out from reading the thread title, which refers to PORTLAND. I notice that the link you so considerately posted says nothing about PORTLAND.   So, do we understand now that we are talking about PORTLAND?

Actually, that movie rocked.

I completely agree with the following review:

Still don't care what the writer of the comic book has to say about OWS, though.

You just wanted to be under that shield wall with all those ripped spartan bodies. [8D]

Iamsemisweet -> RE: Occupy Portland ends, rather peacefully (11/14/2011 1:54:04 PM)

You are correct there, Hillie.  I gave every man I knew a copy of the "300 Workout" for Xmas that year.  I was trying to create my own little Spartan army.
