I doubt Roger is scaring the hell out of anyone. I just think it's amusing to watch the rich celebs pointing their fingers at those awful rich people.

Who was the Guy Roger had on the 04 Tour (That was I believe the first time he billed it with a complete DSOTM Set)? He also played with Clapton just before that. Anyway, I liked his work a lot.

Geez people! don't you get it? Waters and Gilmour are like chocolate and peanut butter. By themselves either is great but when you combine the two it is fucking awesome and beyond! The whole is greater than the sum of its' parts.

What Willbur said.

It's not even close. The band was Syd's... Then it was Roger's... then it was trash.

MadAxeman -> RE: Pink Floyd Picks a side .... (11/8/2011 11:38:35 AM)

Thanks to Waters

I think the other two guys (especially Wright) were a vital part of the band too. If creativity matters more than technique then their greatest guitarist by a long shot has to be El-Syd

BTW chocolate and peanut butter? [sm=dunno.gif]

Charming manners but you still haven't explained why I should "shut the fuck up about Bono"?

Well Then Allow Me... IT'S OFF TOPIC.
A) Roger is on topic because HIS ENDORSEMENT OF OWS ... _IS_ the topic.
B)Bono has absolutely NOTHING TO DO WITH OWS... In fact, I have heard BONO JOKES referencing the likelihood that he will eventually come throw his shadow on one of the parks.

Hopefully he'll stay you're problem and it'll be in Galway.
I've had the TOS thrown in my face for less bizarre misuse of a thread. So consider the TOS in play here. And I apologize for yelling at you, but it was like you were being obtuse with the Bono nonsense.
I am 50% irish having had two grand parents who immigrated. And one thing I have seen FAR TOO MUCH of is the old country dumping it's opportunistic mother fuckers here amidst the hard working in many ways amazing citizenry they've contributed. Bono is a shining example of the kind of opportunistic SHIT I am talking about.
   I hope that's not

Gilmour played much of the bass on the early albums.

Got a cite for that? Gilmour didn't even join the Floyd until the third album, whereas the thing about Wright not wanting to play synths is pretty well documented.

You would be correct to say that its off-topic to bring up Bono but look at it this way: Waters isn't just advocating OWS, he is advocating a particular type of moralistic stance. Yet Waters reneged on his societal obligations (taxes) in the past whilst being an avowed socialist. I only mentioned Bono in passing as another example of a loud humanitarian rock star who did the same so I don't think it was off-topic.

I'm not a fan of Bono either. He is a pretentious a** and I don't like anything U2 have done since War. I was only bringing him up as another example of what I see as the Waters phenomenon but I don't want you to feel I'm derailing your thread so I'll drop it here. BTW it looks like he is a problem for you guys after all http://moodyeyeview.com/2011/10/17/bono-attends-ows-anti-corporation-rally-and-steve-jobs-memorial-whats-with-that/ whew that's Galway's loss I'm sure! True. I bet it sucks trying to pick up girls and having to say, "I was in Pink Floyd... I was... uh... one of the other guys."

Best example I could come up with on short notice.

Wright was much better noted as a producer outside of the Floyd, and he did a lot of good stuff there. Robert Wyatt's best album for a start...

And you got Waters in my Gilmore!

Don't tell anyone, though. Remember what happened to the other guys who discovered a great combo?

Thanks to Waters

Thanks to Waters not being there to write all the good material?

Momentary Lapse had 2 listenable tracks. Division Bell had two good ones.

The Final Cut, The Wall, and Animals were brilliant and were during the tyrannical Waters period.

Richard Wright was more important in my mind than Gilmour... and I LOVE Gilmour's guitar work. That and I happen to love every song Wright ever wrote.

Edited to add: Yes, even See-Saw. I fucking LOVE See-Saw.

Mmmmmmm he notified the OWS Media Team at Liberty Plaza before he did it and apparently asked if they could use a very formalized endorsement and they told him no. And that essentially, they invite people to come and be a part of the Movement for as long as they can, but that they don't want standard bearers or anyone else they are beholding to.
Perhaps that clears it up a bit more. It wasn't a generalized statement anymore than is the movement. It was Published as "Roger Waters - Occupy" ... I don't see how much clearer it can be made.
Except maybe you could just say "I hate Roger Waters".  Ihad no problem making my disdain for Bono clear as a bell. I'll be clearer. I  won't like Bono even if he pays his fucking taxes and stays in Ireland.

Roger actually left Pink Floyd damn near 30 years ago, Skip, and his uber-liberal views have been on public display for decades. Of course, unlike many douchebags who put politics above all else, my taste in music has nothing whatsoever to do with the politics of the artist. Thank God for that, too, because I fucking hate that whiny, twangy, country shit.

So, are you spending a lot of time around dumbasses who just nod in agreement with whatever their favorite band tells them to think?

I doubt he is.

Probably spending less time than you do listening to the conservative talking heads that you parrot on here every day.

I don't quite understand your point but lets just call it a day. Just to clarify I should add that I don't hate Roger Waters although I'm not a fan either. I'm just a bit sceptical of his humanitarianism as of certain others. Plenty of his sort mouth populist sentiments and he dodged taxes in the past so I take what he says now with a pinch of salt. That is why I mentioned U2 which BTW you were the one to make a big deal about over what was initially just a single sentence. I do dislike Bono although I would hesitate to describe him as the extreme low-life you did in Post 50. I don't think he has done anything to merit that response other than perhaps doing something to harm you and yours personally.
