dump your cookies, that should fix the fucking problem.

I just did and I can now get into the articles, rate and reply.
Thanks!
How often should I dump cookies? Once a week?

you're welcome. as to when to dump them whenever. once a week or only when the fucking problem reappears. i dump mine every time i close my browser, but that isn't required.

oh and termy, what was that about cookies not causing the fucking problem? who doesn't know what the fuck they are talking about?  you know to say this, but...

Touche'

Suffice it to say that I have never resolved a problem by clearing the cache or dumping the cookies. I guess that's just the type of problem I have never encountered.

But do we know for sure that this action actually cured the problem ? Let's put it this way, get a headache, take an Excedrin and it goes away. Get a headache and eat an apple and it goes away.

The only way to prove it is to restore the cookies and see if the problem recurs. This can be found out actually, if you just move the cookies out and move them back in, maybe even one by one to identify the site that caused the problem.

But I am not going to argue about it. I just think it must have been one strange, or baaaad cookie. If cookies can prevent you from getting to certain news webpages, I would also look for a political motive. I love a good conspiracy theory. Also, clearing the cache used to be effective sometimes because there were so many fucking errors on dialup it wasn't funny. There were enough of them that one might do something nasty to the browser.

But today the occurance is rare. The cookie thing ? I'd like to see the history of the day and time the error happened.

and i already explained exactly what the fuck it is about the cookie that fucks things up.motherfucker! you are one stubborn old coot aren't you?

oh, and i'm still waiting to hear why dumping cookies and clearing your cache is such a fucking bad idea.

Termyn8or -> RE: Computer question. (11/3/2011 6:58:29 PM)

Bad idea ? NO. It's just not a cureall.

Now thinking about it after noticing this :

" just did and I can now get into the articles, rate and reply. "

AHA ! He is registered with them. That is why the cookie is pertinent.

Not a "bad" idea but then usually you have to log back into all kinds of shit, it's simply a pain in the ass. I was wrong this time, it was what was needed I guess but usually it's not, at least in my experience. I've found it even more useless to clear the cache, so far that is.

With Murphy's law strictly enforced I guess I will be proven wrong any day now on the cache thing. Tech support doesn't pay enough for this, I'll stick with my old job as antagonist.

Thank you, come again.
