Nosathro -> Presiden Obama and fundraisin (10/28/2011 10:30:33 AM)

I have heard news reports the Obama will need nearly a Billion dollars to finance his reelection bid...here is how he is getting it

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/obama-fundraisers-deep-ties-lobbyists-140751265.html

Obama has now taken in $89 million for his 2012 campaign. Four years ago, he raised $80 million through Sept. 30, 2007, when he started raising money three months earlier. His six- month total is second only to the $98 million for George W. Bush from July through December 1999, Federal Election Commission records show.

All your article mentioned was 5 Million. You're only off by a factor of 200 so far.

Maybe you were referring to this article. http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2008/02/cost-of-08-presidential-race-a.html Which indicates that all the candidates COMBINED might spend a Billion. That number isn't unreasonable.

The point of his article is where the money is coming from.

Per his article...

quote:

Technically, the individuals aren't in violation of Obama's self-imposed lobbyist ban because they aren't officially registered as federal lobbyists with the Senate. But there are no illusions about what they actually do for a living.

I love that part.

Now, there, he definitely has a point. If he was pointing out Obama's apparent hypocricy, why didn't he just say so?

Ummmm That`s the stated goal or amount they`re shooting for.

So far, they`re on track to reach one billion.

It might be a lofty goal, though. They sure aren`t going to have the traditional lack of money that dems have suffered from in the past, that`s a given.

I just sent in another 25 bucks.I`m planning to donate $250 before Nov. 2012.

Pft... they are all into that form of hypocrisy. Pointing out Obama's and neglecting the rest is another case of fingerpointing.

joether -> RE: Presiden Obama and fundraisin (10/28/2011 11:30:26 AM)

WOW, as usual, a conservative who didnt bother to check his facts before creating a thread.....

Would think someone would check their facts before reporting on them. I can understand messing up here or there every once in a while (happens to us all). But being over-zealous to attack someone you hate does cloud the 'thinking' area of the human brain. That's why they call it 'blind rage'. Now it is known that of the candidates for the next election, the President indeed has the largest warchest. But than, he doesnt have to spend much of it fighting against a horde of candidates for the Democratic ticket. For the most part, the grand majority of people will nominate Mr. Obama to the Democratic ticket. So, the only money he'll have to spend campaigning (besides the usual expenses) will be on the loser GOP that gets their nomination.

Its usually a good idea to check facts. If something seems unreal or questionable, one should just check the information from a few different sources (i.e. not from the same political philosophy EITHER). Many of us had to train one of the resident 'conservative conspiracy theorists' to do just that. He was starting posts much like yours. Short, sweet, and totally lacking of facts. So going forward, do try to put the effort in with checking those facts instead of parroting the lastest conservative 'talking point' with regards to President Obama, ok?

If conservatives held their elected officals to the same 'line-item' criteria as they blast Mr. Obama on an hourly basis, we might actually have good goverment for a change. To bad in their blind rage, they stop using their brains to think for themselves. What 'good' has the Republican Party done for America within the last three years? As far as I see it, they've done anything and everything to undermine this country's economy, health, and future outlook. Not once do I see any of the candidates for the GOP ticket being 'responsible and accountible' with what they say and do.

Given all the circumstances, the President is meeting or exceeding my inital expectations for him. However, he keeps wanting to be 'bi-partisan' towards a bunch of people I consider 'borderline treason-ist' (and no, I am actually referring to the GOP....and their Tea Party element in particular). He'll get another four years largely because the GOP doesnt have much to show for its 'antics'.

If a Democrat were to raise conservative's taxes, they'd be out protesting night and day (not to mention a series of death threats). But Mr. Cain and Mr. Perry have both said they'll do the exact same thing. And where is the outrage? Its not there! In fact, conservatives will blindly vote for their nomination to the ticket. How that for being a hypocrit?

Heaven help me....

joe (sorry, thought you were mike and now he is griping so i had to fix it), I dont agree with that. I do believe much was done to damage this country.... but much was done by both sides. And, while we may not have liked how it was done, up until a few years ago, this country was prospering.

Too bad we cant get them to work their ideas into a concrete, workable plan.

Okay,I can pretend I said it....especially considering I don't disagree with it all that much...the last three years have,on a national level ,been spent ensuring defeat for President Obama and little else.
so yeah,I can assume, for your nefarious purposes tazzy, ownership of that [:)]
