Termyn8or -> RE: grey hair growing black (10/25/2011 11:23:24 PM)

My theory is thus :

Gray hair is caused by mineral deficiencies. The body does not have the elements required to make the dye for the hair. Melatonin probably or something like that. There are certain minerals involved that have been identified.

You had a problem, a growth, tumor, whatever. It has been removed. When it was in your body it was involved in a constant fight that drained your resources, among them the necessary components for hair coloring.

Now that this expenditure is no longer draining your body's resouces, normal function has returned.

Sound possible ?

DesFIP -> RE: grey hair growing black (10/26/2011 8:46:36 AM)

If I plucked all the white hair from my eyebrows, I wouldn't have any eyebrows worth speaking of.

I'm going white, not gray. Went gray for a few years but now I'm going white. I can't dye it red because as we all know, red and white makes pink.

Occasionally I dye it dark brown but not usually.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: grey hair growing black (10/26/2011 8:54:05 AM)

that sounds like utter shite, Termy. You should be on cable TV.

Termyn8or -> RE: grey hair growing black (10/26/2011 9:16:53 AM)

It's spelled S H I T .

Disprove it.

T^T

LadyHibiscus -> RE: grey hair growing black (10/26/2011 9:28:26 AM)

I said it SOUNDS wrong, I am not disputing the chemistry behind the aging process! Which is why you should for serious be on cable tv, in one of those info shows! Or on the radio doing a call in. You are made for it!

Termyn8or -> RE: grey hair growing black (10/26/2011 10:12:02 AM)

It sounds wrong ? Let me fix that with one example.

Diabetes is one of the conditions known to be caused by the lack of certain essential nutrients. There are other causes of course but the lack of certain nutrients WILL cause it as sure as other deficiencies will cause scurvy or rickets.

Many pregnant Women get what's called gestational diabetes. Once they give birth the fetus is no longer sucking down everything it can get, and the diabetes disappears. The deficiency is gone.

This is not trying to be snarky, but I think it is a problem that people do not think this way. I think many could do alot better for their health with some thought. Cause and effect. It is not easy because there are so many variables, but I think you can get an idea, and while noone will ever get the big picture, something is better than nothing.

About the cable TV, I am not very photogenic. A radio show, that I can do but nobody would let me. Without letters after my name they would be afraid of me giving the wrong advice and getting them sued. Now if I had letters after my name I could give wrong advice with impunity, that's how the country works. Ten years of self directed research is trumped by a couple of years toga party.

Maybe I should write a book.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: grey hair growing black (10/26/2011 10:16:01 AM)

But how does that explain the AGING process? Which is why folks get grey hair and wrinkles and all that other goodness.

Not that I care about getting older, but there is much research in the area.

kalikshama -> RE: grey hair growing black (10/26/2011 1:24:35 PM)

Termy isn't discussing aging, but why grey hair might start growing in black. His theory sounded reasonable to me. (Except I would substitute copper for melatonin deficiency.)

Lucylastic -> RE: grey hair growing black (10/26/2011 1:44:34 PM)

Im so happy so many responded:) thankyou chaps and ladies,
Susie, I hope your hair grows back hon, I was lucky mine was benign I wish you welll as soon as possible, and it kinda put some things in perspective too so a double thanks:)
Ashjor you are adorable:) I promise ass avs will be back soon.
Heart, yes that was me posting in the shark fin..was there a problem?? id had enough of the tone used by another poster, so that may have come out in the way I typed. It happens, when I type the way I talk, and that ranges from serious , polite and sweet to the downright daft and sarcastic/satirical, caustic, and occasionally bitchy.
I do try to keep the bitch stuff to P&R. :)
Lady Hib.. I hadnt thought it was possible but, its happened so there may well be something to it.
MIP< It doesnt work with my head hair:)shaved it once back in the punk days of 77ish came back normal.
Soul I have the same with my moms side, white at 60:)
Termy, given that my diet was horrendous for a number of years it is possible , I am taking hormones, vitamins and minerals now my anemia is gone, my blood chemisty is almost what it should be and its all happened in the last few months. I accept the aging process but yeah, I was deficient in many minerals, including copper and zinc and a lot of other things too. Working now on my liver issues, so I have to leave the possibility wide open:)

TheHeretic -> RE: grey hair growing black (10/26/2011 7:27:32 PM)

My first white hairs showed up in my chin fuzz, while I was still in my 20's. I took it as a sign I was dealing with way too much stress and chaos in my life, shaved it off as part of the change ritual, and when I grew it back out the following winter, the white ones were gone. There are a sprinkling of them in there now, but I'm old enough not to let them bother me.

I keep the hair on my head short enough these days, that the few in the mix there are not something I notice, unless I specifically go looking. They seem to come and go, depending on stress levels.

abuddingdom -> RE: grey hair growing black (10/26/2011 8:13:53 PM)

My hair started  going gray shortly after I hit 40 and it's about 2/3 white now, the remaining third the same brownish it always was(except it was blondish until I was 4 or 5). My beard used to have a lot of red in it until it slowly but surely went about 90% white. About every decade or so I grow my hair very long, and that's where it is presently - much, much longer than in my pics. My pretty one often brushes and ties it back for me and she discovered some scattered smatterings of red in the back (it also seems to be softer than it ever was). I don't recall ever having red in my hair, only my beard. Go figure.........

MadAxeman -> RE: grey hair growing black (10/26/2011 8:32:11 PM)

Termy, Insulin is a hormone, not a 'nutrient'
Diabetes is the result of insufficient insulin or the body's inability to process it.
Please don't write a book.

Termyn8or -> RE: grey hair growing black (10/26/2011 10:22:42 PM)

Axey, I know what insulin is.

It is made by the pancreas which needs among other things the minerals chromium and vanadium to operate. It does not need large quantities but in the western world many diets are deficient, which causes the incidences of the malady out of proportion with the niorm that would be based on statistics alone because of congenital factors. Nobody in their right mind would argue against that.

What did you think, that I thought there was an insulin content in your Wheaties ? An RDA ?

No, no problem at all, you are fantastic! It simply didnt look like your writing to me and I though maybe your darling or someone was posting on your profile. You use caps and that was in lower case. I feel aligned with most things you say, happy to see your posts! Fantastic on the vote re: the shark fin!

heartcream -> RE: grey hair growing black (10/26/2011 11:42:00 PM)

I have found a Castor Oil plaster a benign and powerful way to cleanse the liver.

Lucylastic -> RE: grey hair growing black (10/27/2011 12:53:00 AM)

Hyas:) n thanks, for the recomendation. Im gonna try it when I get back from my weekend away:)

"Termy isn't discussing aging, but why grey hair might start growing in black. His theory sounded reasonable to me. (Except I would substitute copper for melatonin deficiency.) "

Actuallly I think it's tin or zinc. It could be a couple of them.

And another thing, I have known too many incurable people who were cured, and this includes physical damage. Never walk again my fucking ass. I have known about ten people who were told they would never walk again and only one of them didn't. No shit. Our crowd was nuts, we had more car wrecks than you even want to think about, motorcycle wrecks, even bicycle and pedestrian wrecks.

We partied and we didn't give a shit about anything. We were indestructable. We were immortal for that limited time. Now, if I don't eat something without hot sauce every day I could die.

I got kicked while sparring - across a twenty foot room, and ran back up and said "Do it again". The second time did it I must admit it's enough, but to propel a two hundred pound body from the gropund on such a trajectory that it will travel twenty feet without touching the floor/ground, just how much force do you imagine was applied to my chest ?

For a good piece of my life everything was about sparring, working out and tests of strength. We also used our mind. Leverage. Force vectors. How the joints move on the body, and more importantly - DON'T.

And you CAN come back. Two and a half years ago I could barely walk, and now I am probably back up to 70%.

Motherfuckers, there are only CERTAIN THINGS that fuck you up for life.
