ORIGINAL: Sanity I invoke Godwins law But not before saying, good idea - judges were meant to have limited power from the beginning, and their power has grown to where it is now practically unlimited in scope Judges act like fucking Nazis these days, especially the leftist judges The People have lost all control over the judiciary. The best way to regain that control is for *all* judges to be *elected* every four years. Imagine owning a business and having an employee who tells you to go fuck your self in front of all the other employees, takes 20 weeks vacation every year, tells you how to run your business and makes a lot more money than "the boss?" The people were never meant to have any power over the judiciary. That's the entire point of having an independent judiciary. Ken, have you heard that little ditty, "A government by the people, for the people......." It doesn't say, "A government by the judiciary, for the judiciary....." It is *never* a good thing when a government or any part thereof wields power over the people. They are our employees not the management and are in existence to do the bidding of "The People." When the people don't have control over the government and the government tries to tell them what to do that's a dictatorship and probably a few other names that don't come to mind right now. I wonder what Thomas Jefferson would say about that?[:)] So,.....if you were standing on the steps of the supreme court and one of the judges came out and told you to take your clothes off and start masturbating you'd do it? Have you heard the term, "legislating from the bench?" Now that's not very "Independent" of them now is it? The higher people go in position the more supervision they need. Boy, who's the liberal here, you or me? Legislating from the bench is a conservative buzz word that means enforcing the high ideals this country was founded on. Without an independent judiciary the decisions of judges will be respected even less than they are now. Judges exist not to do the bidding of the people but to be impartial arbters and protectors of the rights of all against the tyranny of the majority. It's only far right reactionaries like you who do not understand the need for an independent judiciary. Dom Ken, and who's going to police the judges? Would you have liked to see George Bush with absolute power answerable to no-one? And "legislating from the bench" can be used by any one or group. How do you ascribe it to conservatives? And judges do work for The People, who pays their salaries and overly generous vacation and benefits? You "work" for whoever it is that pays you. I think that The People need to have a lot more say in what our government does or doesn't do! And you sound a lot more conservative than me in this exchange. I want to change the government not "conserve" it like you. Who you voting for in the primary, Romney or Cain?
