Firebirdseeking -> cant seem to log in (10/19/2011 8:42:17 PM)

I cant seem to log in. I cant even say for certain how I am able to post. When I go to the main page, and I use my name and password, it says INVALID. I have clicked several times on the Forgot Password? link and although I am told I will receive an email shortly, I have not gotten one, and I have done this severa times. I even had a friend email support for me, and no response. i need help with this. I also cannot access my profile. What the F? any suggestions? is support out there, is a moderator reading this, and if so, will you please assist me?

roscho -> RE: cant seem to log in (10/19/2011 9:11:38 PM)

I can't offer much help.... But for this example, I went back to CM main - the profile section. I logged out. Closed the page. Typed in www.collarme.com. It brought up the site, without anybody being logged in. I didn't log in, I clicked on the "message boards" tab. And here I am, logged in. If I go back to CM Profiles, and input the first few letters of my name, it brings up 10 or 15 possible matches. I see "me" and hover over it, and it thinks I'm offline, even though I'm logged in here typing this to you.

So... Not much of an answer, I'd say the message boards holds you logged in in the cache/cookie whatever unless you specifically log out of message boards versus just closing the page or jumping back to profiles.

The standard.... close browser, clear cache, reboot sequence does wonders rectifying these situations.

I recognize that doesn't explain some bits of your dilemma, but that is I all I have... [sm=doh.gif]

I don't think the log ins are always connected, this morning I wasn't connected to either so I signed in here first. When I went to the other side I wasn't logged in there though I was logged in here and had to log in there seperatly.

Ailey sadly not a mod [:o]

I agree with Roscho in that trying to clear your cookies and rebooting might be
all thats needed for CM to recognize your username and password.
There were some security updates that took place not too long ago, where
you had to enter a code to validate your password. I'm not certain if you signed
on prior to that. If you aren't sure how to clear cookies, this link will help.

If those ideas don't work, you might try a couple of different browsers. Sometimes what doesn't work on one, works fine in others.

Someone else cannot write to Support on your behalf. Make another account, and write to Support yourself.

ModTwentyOne, the LINK that says "Forgot Password" is NOT working! I click on it, and it says I will receive an email to reset my password, and that email never gets to me. I dont know if others are having this problem, it seems like a webmaster issue, and I have NO idea how to reach that person(s). Perhaps you could advise. I can log on to the boards, but not to the site itself and I dont understand that.

ModTwentyOne -> RE: cant seem to log in (10/20/2011 4:14:20 PM)

I didn't say to click "forgot password"; I said to make another account and contact Support.

Firebirdseeking -> RE: cant seem to log in (10/24/2011 5:34:37 PM)

I did that too and still have not gotten a response from support.

VideoAdminAlpha -> RE: cant seem to log in (10/24/2011 8:04:26 PM)

You wrote support on the 20th and 21st of October. So, the "I've been trying forever to get Support to answer me" is actually not exactly true. You now have an answer from support in your alternate account.

FR

Most forum software emails the registered email when there is a password problem. If that email is recieved in many cases it has a special link to either change the password or to re-logon with the new (or reset) password to validate it. Alot of forum software does this for security reasons, to actually have a current email address of it's members. It seems this activity goes on wothout intervention from the moderators.

If that email is not recieved and/or the link therein is not clicked, the new password is not validated and then the account is in limbo.

Could I be onto something here ? Some members are forced to get new accounts and others aren't, what are they doing different ?
