Does anyone know of a way or an application for recording the conversation of both parties while you're talking on your iphone ?  Most of my other phones (not smart phones) would do this just by activating the record feature while talking. I recently got an Apple 3Gs and found I couldn't seem to do this. What gives ?

Florida is a two party consent state, so unless you have the permission of the person you are talking to, you are violating state wire tap laws. That also means you can't use them as evidence in any court case.

Sucks to be you I guess.

Yes I know this but what I did on occasion was while talking to a company representative like from my internet provider for example, I'll tell them "to insure quality control this call may be recorded", after of course I've heard their phone system or even the rep tell me the same thing or if the rep flat out asks my permission I will ask their permission. So when they tell me something like "you'll get this or that credited back on your bill, we'll get it fixed or what ever, I have the conversation for the record.

It sounds sensible to me. However, op, you might do better to insist on an email addy for the service rep while talking, and not letting them hang up until they say they have received it and have emailed you back a response acknowledging what they claimed they would do to fix the problem.

The Man got GE to resolve a refrigerator problem last year by replacing it after he did this. Having written acknowledgment of the problem and their proposed solution meant he could eventually call corporate, talk to the vp in charge of fraud, and have them admit that not doing what they promised to do was grounds for fraud. It took a couple of weeks, off and on but it did work.

A paper trail is much better evidence to go to court with. Judge's don't really want to listen to your recorded phone conversation, but an email confirming what they said is easy to make an exhibit in a lawsuit.

More importantly LL, with the paper trail it doesn't go to court. Eventually you do get someone with sufficient power to resolve the problem and they see the paper trail and decide they don't want to have to go to court. So they fix the problem right then and there.
