They in fact are the real meat and potatoes of the modern secret service. for short distances it gets trucked and for longer distances they fly in a special issue Lockheed. I sent an email to Artie to ask him if he knew anything about it. I'll let you know if he says anything. I do know that just through the seniority system, the next guy up was a kind of a jerk.
But these guys exist ENTIRELY independent of what President or staff are 'in" at the time. So if they save the world, it's their big event. If they fuck up, it's all theirs too.
Such is life.
