My father's 84 with alcoholic dementia. My sister lives the closest but dealing with someone who asks you ten times a minute what day it is can drive you nuts.

We fill in the gaps between what we all can do with paid services. There are businesses who send nurses out weekly to check up on people and will call you if there's a problem.

I wouldn't think badly of your brother for not wanting to take on the other issues, he's dealing with his life and his emotions as well. And driving two hours each way is a hike. Especially if he has family of his own.

Call the County Public Health office and ask for advice. Even if they don't provide help, they will know who does. If they don't, then the Social Workers at the nearest hospital will.

Additionally, if there is a younger neighbor who would be willing to take on the paid job of finding help when needed for repairs and such, that would take the burden off of you folks.

Iamsemisweet,

I said a prayer a lantern would be sent to light your way. To guide you should you desire.

Lockit,

You scratched at this tree I see. I can tell from the marks you left one thing for sure.

You are VITAL !

"You know that old trees just grow stronger,
And old rivers grow wilder every day
Old people just grow lonely
Waiting for someone to say
Hello in there
Hello............  "
