"Someone is being alarmist." Tis you whom I hath chosen to which to respond. No friend of yours would ever want you to have less defensive or offensive capability, only an enemy would. Any friend would not only support and help you maintian or bolster your defensive or offensive cabability, but would also expect the same support from you. The politicians are well aware the we are fed up with them taking all our rights and shit. They know that they are the ones who need to be shot, therefore it is logical that they seek to take our guns. Meantime you may note that they do not intend to give up thiers nor those of their armed bodyguards. People are pretty fucking stupid these days but you know what, that is going to change soon. T^T
