BLITIZER: Let’s talk about gun control. Do you support any gun control? CAIN: I support the Second Amendment. BLITZER: So you don’t? What’s the answer on gun control? CAIN: The answer on gun control is I support, strongly support, the Second Amendment. I don’t support onerous legislation that’s going to restrict people’s rights in order to be able to protect themselves as guaranteed by the Second Amendment. BLITZER: Should states or local governments be allowed to pass laws on guns . . . CAIN: Yes BLITZER: So the answer is yes? CAIN: Yes. The answer is yes, that should be a state’s decision. To be fair, I think Mr. Cain simply got confused on the subject. That he implied it was the state's right to decide on gun control (under the 10th Amendment). However, if that is true, than a state could ban firearms and not be in violation of the 2nd Amendment (assuming individuals and not a 'well-regulated militia' can have firearms). He wants it to work both ways, and that's not how it does work. Likewise, its a bit concerning that Mr. Blitzer could easily confuse Mr Cain like that. Do you really want someone that can be easily confused by the topic in a handful of sentences as your president? We tried that with Bush Jr, and LOOK WHAT HAPPENED..... I'd be happy with a president who knew that there are,..... "50 states." These days will be known as,...."The Obama time." Never thought I'd be pining for the Clinton years and all his hyjincs in the White house! Having Obama in there is like getting hit in the face with a wet sponge.
