PASADENA, Texas (AP) — Three commissioners appointed by Gov. Rick Perry may grant some of the nation's largest refineries a tax refund of more than $135 million — money Texas' cash-strapped schools and other local governments have been counting on to help pay teachers and provide other public services.

The property tax refund would mean more pain for some communities after a year in which state lawmakers grappled with a $27 billion shortfall and slashed spending on public schools by more than $4 billion. Nearly half the refund would be taken from public schools, and those in cities where the refineries are based would be hurt most.

Just how many "refunds", tax credits and other government give-a-ways do the oil companies need??

We have a property tax refund program here in PA.  And guess what, you have to be on some sort of social security program (retirement, disability or SSI) to get it.  And it has absolutely no impact on the actual property taxes paid in the state because it is totally funded by the lottery and can only be claimed AFTER one has paid their property taxes.  I claimed it for 3 years between the time I got my house and when I reentered the workforce.

"Never mind..."

If you read into the article, its to pay for pollution control equipment, the extreme leftists want to have it both ways, as always.

From crazy lucys article:

quote:

The refund request has to do with a piece of technology used by refineries to minimize pollution. Beginning in 2006, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency began requiring refineries to remove sulfur dioxide from diesel and gasoline in an attempt to reduce vehicle pollution. Many refineries had to either upgrade existing "hydrotreater" units or purchase new, more effective equipment.

Leftists want to drive all industry offshore is the thing, and they want energy costs so high that grandma freezes this winter

tazzygirl -> RE: Bless the oil companies (9/27/2011 6:20:13 AM)

And they have had how many years of record profits to do this in?

Sanity -> RE: Bless the oil companies (9/27/2011 6:24:51 AM)

As if profits are evil...

Why should they build the refineries that we need here if the extreme leftists we elect are only concerned with punishing them, and driving them into the ground? Those are controls that the extremists demand, and this is a product we need to get the economy moving.

How are they, and all businesses, not better off moving to China?

No one said profits are evil. Now they are wanting money they should have turned back to the company to make upgrades they knew were coming. 6 years is more than long enough.

Sanity -> RE: Bless the oil companies (9/27/2011 7:17:22 AM)

A sad day

"China more business friendly than the U.S."

1) The insane hallucinations of a nutsucker, provide us the fact on these punishments, like who and what division they worked in at the oil company is being waterboarded and so on.

2) What the fuck would more oil do to get jobs, there aint no lack of oil in this country.

3) They have been moving to China for years and years. Even under nutsucking administrations, in fact especially under nutsucking administrations.

tazzygirl -> RE: Bless the oil companies (9/27/2011 7:53:16 AM)

Which EPA law is this exactly?

mnottertail -> RE: Bless the oil companies (9/27/2011 8:16:20 AM)

Oil around to $77 bucks a barrel, down from over $100+ in the heyday of the nutsuckers....

Obama is trying to take your oil away!!!!!!!

Wayne LaPierre and Rex Tillerson

tazzygirl -> RE: Bless the oil companies (9/27/2011 8:25:28 AM)

In every article I have read so far, no one mentions exactly what EPA law this is. Anyone got a clue?

It is obvious that tonguing rushes ass and general nutsucking policies have caused further putrifaction of sanitys brain.

The leftists he is talking about in this 2006 law would be rinos, nutsuckers, conservatives, republicans and idiots overwhelmingly.

I think he has contracted mad cow disease from preparing Limbaughs toilet and nursing on Limbaughs anus to soften the impaction and ease his defecations.

By "extreme leftsts" you mean those of us who know they won't spend it on that equipment they were legally obligated to buy and didn't
