Hate to say it but I would have turned it down. We have our own poor huddled masses. I wrote a fictional book in which they tore it down and made this country into a near utopia. And thinking about it, it was the only way. Non citizens could not contract, own property, anything, they were visitors only. An isolationist state with the technology to make it work, and work well.

The huddled masses did do a few things like provide labor during the industrialization period, but that is over now and they are obsolete. Did you know that about half of the US inventors credited with significant achievements were actually immigrants ? They were not huddled masses.

So some aspiring welfare family might fill up the quota and preclude the entry of the person to cure cancer. Fuck those huddled masses, let France take them.

Well actually it's not quite correct simply to say that that's "how the French represent liberty."

She is very much older than France...

She is the Roman Goddess Libertas.

How do you distinguish between huddled masses and immigrants? Huddled masses are immigrants and it's tricky to identify which will go on to cure cancer - especially if they're only 2 years old when they arrive. Never mind the US inventors that were immigrants, how many were the children or grandchildren of immigrants? How many presidents, or generals, or captains of industry? It would require someone of uncommon foresight to stand at Ellis Island and determine who it would ultimately benefit the country to let in or send home. That's ignoring the fact that everyone in the US (even Native Americans) are ultimately descended from immigrants. At what point in history is the line drawn that leads to utopia?

In post-WW2 Germany there was no reason for any Jewish people to be freed. They already were.

There may have been underlying tensions generated by Nazi indoctrination, but Jewish people were not prisoners of any kind.

That's really why we had the war...

Yeah, the US refused them entry, why ? See shit like this is why some people think the government knew about Pearl Harbor and let it happen to whip up public opinion. I'm not saying that it's true, but goddammit there are some things that just don't add up. There are alot of things that just don't add up.

And there's always an explanation, there has never been a secret. The government has never done any wrong. Even that shit in 1993 the first time someone tried to blow up the WTC, they have all kinds of evidence implicating the government but that's just bullshit, but is one of the things they actually haven't generated a smokescreen in response to as of yet. But the public forgot all about it by now. Football is on !

I guess the government is reformed. Gone are the days when they tested nuclear weapons on our own troops, let Black Men die of syphillus just to see what it looked like and did all kinds of other nasty shit. They have completely turned around and the new government is 100% trustable.

Right ?

Actually they do to some extent. Getting an H1-B visa requires education, a skill useful in this country and a sponsor willing to hire the aspirant immigrant.

Now if they just stuck with that it would be fine.

Look at some other countries. Some won't let you in unless you have X amount of money. Others won't let you take all your money if you emmigrate. For some reason immigration laws are being laxed in many parts of the world, there must be some influence which is beyond the scope of this text. But years ago, some of the most desirable countries were the hardest to get into.

To get here you just get on a bus in Mexico.

But really, while I can't really say close the borders permanently, they should be closed now at least temporarily to all but the most useful. The reason ? I think 300,000,000 people is enough especially when we don't pull in enough money to feed ourselves. And don't even try to dispute that becasue that'll buy you a link to the national debt and the occasions on which they raise the debt cieling. There is no question at all that we cannot afford the people we have now. Period.
