We need to alert Clint Eastwood!

I can't imagine why you aren't able to feel compassion for those that are suffering,
or why you insist on showing the world what a selfish and uncaring man you are.
I can only hope that nothing tragic ever happens in the very small box that you seem
so comfortable living in.

That is how chain-mail junk proliferates on the Internet.

So what have you done to save them horses? And that little girl who needs to be treated against cancer since 1996, and all them other bleeding hearts scams and hoaxes?

When have you ever spoken out against tonsillectomy, and against gene pool corruption and social horrors due to the mutilating practice of circumcision? I have done so, attempting to end the suffering of hundreds of millions of people and of entire populations.

What have you done?

this was not junk mail....it was an honest plea for help from a good friend of mine who works in the animal rescue field. Since i am not in texas and most of my friends on facebook are not in texas, i thought i would post it here for anyone who might be able to help.

Thank you to those who took it seriously.

It does is junk mail. If I mail an Inuit in Greenland with the request to remove the trash from the streets in Amsterdam, it is junk mail. His or her inane similar request to Inuit not living in the neighborhood (i.e. you and presumably thousands of other Inuit) is equally fruitless and in an absolute sense only self-gratifying: "Look what a bleeding heart I am, you ought to praise me for that!" You would do better to kick him or her instead; it will teach him or her some manners.

I happily and willingly keep my heart, my mind, my arms, and
occassionally even my doors open for those that will find comfort there.

And when I am unable to offer any of those things?
I keep my mouth shut, lest I add to someone elses misery.

I'm sorry that you feel so powerless in the face of other peoples' suffering.
I like to believe that I can make a difference, and I often do.

Edited to add this very positive news article.

As far as poetry is concerned, I am an ignoramus. But perchance you have poetry aptitude; you may want to explore that.

i posted here with the knowledge that there are, indeed, many residents of texas here. And of those residents of texas, there may have been one or more who were in that area or close enough to it that they could help. i titled it texas wildfires to attract any texans that may be reading....i am trying to understand why you are so upset, annoyed whatever at me for doing so.

i in no way posted to tell every one how great i am and they should praise me. i did not mention all the causes and organizations i support and help like you did....are we supposed to praise you now?

If you and poise want to keep bantering, feel free.....i choose to end my participation now....and again, thank you to those who took it as a sincere request for help.

I do not doubt your profound bleeding heart intention. Nor do I doubt the bleeding heart intentions of all the millions of people who forward hoax and scam e-mails and posts. It is good Internet manners, though, to not pollute the Internet with all that junk. Your friend demonstrated bad Internet manners when he mailed all them Inuit on the other side of the Moon. And you showed equally bad Internet manners by following suit.

Them horses' plight is something for local professionals and neighbors - like Rowdy Yates - to deal with. Not for Inuit living on the backside of the Moon, nor for your inept friend.

Nor have I alleged so. I was referring to your friend.

Rule, out of respect for Nancygirl, I am not going to say all I could, but you are more out of line than you could know... but then I am sure you wouldn't care.

What is any of this to you? It doesn't apply to you... so get on with your bad self. I know Nancy personally and know some of what she does. She doesn't need to announce it and is uncomfortable with that aspect of assisting others. She is the real deal!

You focus on what you think is important and she will focus on what she feels is important and she doesn't deserve you attacking her as you have. Yes, I do feel protective of her, because I know her and her heart and whether you consider that a bleeding heart or not.. I don't give a damn... but you are out trying to save the world with more important things... she is actually touching lives and making a difference. What have you actually done?

Go away.

Lockit, I respect you. However, you are wrong in this, and assuredly considering how much junk mails you receive on CM, you ought to realize that.

Rule, because there are cheats and scammers all over the world and coming at people by the millions, does not negate that there are genuine causes and needs that people gladly wish to know about and take a part in.

How do you know a story isn't true? You investigate it. If you think all are scams because there are some scammers, then I have a bleeding heart for you. I can get jaded... this I know, but does that mean that my being jaded is correct for me or anyone else? Most say give to this proven agency or whatever and that does provide some safety to some I guess... but in an emergency, you take whatever measures you feel you must to save the lives of any creature. Someone could have seen this and loaded up a horse trailer that could save those lives. They weren't asking for anything but help in moving them to safety.

There is nothing wrong, impolite or cyberly rude about doing a good thing. Because some use it for ill, doesn't mean the needs change or that we should ignore them all or refrain from doing the right thing because some abuse things. You may if you like... but for those that don't wish to... they have a right.

Lockit, that the Opening Post and thread title resemble scam and hoax messages - with lots of words in capital letters and with lots of exclamation marks - is not the issue.

I have never said that it was a scam, nor that it was a hoax.

What is at issue is Internet etiquette. If her friend had issued the call for succor on a local neighborhood forum, that would have been appropriate and contained. Instead her friend e-mailed lots of Inuit on the backside of the Moon who could not possibly drive a truck to Texas and she herself compounded the breach of etiquette, including words in capital letters and all of them exclamation marks, by alerting the whole solar system. It is overkill.

I challenge anyone to read my first post 2 in this thread and to say that I am heavy-handed on the issue. I think that I made rather light off it. She got sucked into the craziness by all them words in capital letters and all of them exclamation marks, I guess.

Rule, we are just going to have to disagree here because we see things very differently. As an Inuit on the backside of the moon, I know a number of people in Texas and had they not had their own fire situations to deal with and were too far to do anything, there wasn't anything they could do, but would have if they could have.

When I hear.. fire... people or animals, homes, etc are in danger... I would shout too. lol HELP! lol

Relax please... you have your point and have made it clear. I made mine. Done deal as far as I am concerned. There really is no point in continuing. Neither will change the mind of the other. Good day to you Rule.

It only took a few moments to find that this is indeed genuine.

Bastrop County Fire

It also appears that this same message has appeared on several horse rescue message boards three days ago.  Much has been done, it seems, but there is still need.
