I cannot come up with an accent this stuff makes sense in. I like to think of myself as being decent at recreating accents from written work, but you my friend are lost on me. Anyway, I'll say what I always say to these sorts of arguments: People don't change. Any change you think you see is superficial or imagined.

ah fak id epy, slaik eez saiyin ya cahnt meet a bich in the fakin skin so ya needs tha net. so e's a fakin waste so fakin jas ignahr it and gou geyt a liddle caksaker far reel rite?.

my best attempt at recreating my down home cape breton accent. that's pretty much what i'd sound like. imagine it with a sorta slightly raspy husky sort of  kinda like kim carnes with a touch more nasally like maybe she has a bit of a cold sorta thing and you got it.

Jesus, f'ing Christ, Hannah.

It's bad enough that I don't hear well.  Do I really have to interpret the written word, too?

Adorah -> RE: Meeting real folk (9/4/2011 2:44:57 AM)

Am Canadian.
So, North Americans? :)

OwnedFreedom -> RE: Meeting real folk (9/4/2011 10:41:35 PM)

I have been reading these and getting kicks out of it as I have been going. Funny yet sage advice. I think these should be put into a kind of Handbook that is offered when you access the forums. For all those people like myself, who from time to time that have to ask about the "Basics" Love the posts though most of it commonsense. DBAC is full of awesome.

No, I'd prefer it.  Mainly because I can read it and I'd bet real money it'd slow you down.

Frankly, I think writing in an accent is an incredibly stupid affectation - Chaucer and Iain M. Banks notwithstanding (one's over 600 years old and the other created a Charly-style first-person narrator).  It's the kind of crap that reeks of attention-whoring.

No matter how hard you try, she's never gonna go out with you.

Dude, that's a nice theory spoiled by a few rather compelling facts.

A) She lives in Canada.
B) I live in New Zealand.
C) She's broken - I'm too smart to bother with broken chicks.

Next time, when constructing a hypothesis, you'd do well to consider attention to detail, lest you end up looking like a fucking moron.

Thus endeth the lesson, dickcheese.

Oh there's nothing compelling about what you say. Don't get too excited about handing out those lessons, "dude". I'm seriously not interested in hearing about your dickcheese.

I think I've managed to put a sound to that, umm... that, which makes it doubly sad that I can't do it for the OP. I've always read your stuff in the voice of a girl I used to know who had kind of a Florida-meets-Brooklyn thing going on, which I realize makes no sense but you kind of remind me of her so it worked. Now this has absolutely ruined that for me; from now on I'm going to be trying to read it in that accent and it's going to drive me insane. So thanks for that, I guess lol

*sniff*  Well, I never!  There's clearly no accounting for taste on this forum.  *huffy exit*

Ohhh...I'm so sorry. I wasn't very clearly in my posting. Let me re-write it for clarity. ;)

You forgot to flounce, Smegma. :D

Okay, I'll call ya Puddin' instead. You would like that, wouldn't you Puddin'? :D

Edited to add: Imagine it being said with a Southern accent. Even though I'm not a Southerner. ;)

Awareness -> RE: Meeting real folk (9/8/2011 2:12:38 AM)

  That's Lord Puddin' to you.
