FatDomDaddy -> FCC Fairness Doctorine is now Ding Dong DEAD (8/22/2011 8:11:54 PM)

It strikes me just how many folks thought the incoming Obama Administration would make it a priority to see that the FCC returned the Fairness Doctrine back to its full power.

I thought nothing of the sort.

We have the net, until they get around to taking that away. Give it a couple of years, there are already a couple of things you can't say. Just wait, as long as they have keyboards they will regulate us, as they deregulate their buddies. I see Rush doesn't like this, but oh well.

The fact is, unless you are a broadcaster you have no right to say what goes on the air. I remember when it was different. Every night before a station signed off it would have an announcement that you could write to complain to the FCC about the content, and those letters would be reviewed and kept on file. And then they played the national anthem. It was as if the People owned the airwaves or some shit. It was an illusion because now we don't, and we never got a check in the mail. We didn't even get a fucking smile.

If you want my treatise on what happened to the media in this country just say the word. I will be happy to typo it out if anyone wants to read. How it became how it is, out of the control of the People and totally in the hands of the megaticians. It was a simple process involving money. Just like any other industry. But the details might be interesting to some.

We own nothing, not even the fucking air in our lungs. Not one single blade of grass. Ask them. Ask them. Go live in a suburb and don't mow the grass. They will tell you that it must be cut. They mean EVERY BLADE OF IT. And just how high it can be. You don't own your own body, proven time and time again.

What did you think was going to happen, they were going to just allow the propogation of free speech or something to get you to revolt and make them kill you ? Nope, they would make less money that way.

Wait until they bottle up the internet. WATCH, one day you will need a license to have an online forum or blog. Fucking bet me it won't happen. Bet me !

We own nothing

well we do "in name" only.

they have legal title to everything we have usufruct.

as I am sure you know even your car as they issue a "certificate" of title to you not the "title" because they hold the title.

Just like you get a "warranty" deed not a deed.  and it is "in fee", the sovereign attaches a fee.   (charges you for making money with the sovereigns land)  just like a serf. oh and they use fire and water to sell it to you.,

fucking people here are so damn uneducated they have no clue its no different than england under the king.

Title deed. Warranty deed means something else. I'm hep to all that. Ever figure out how to get plates for a car with an MSO ?

But this is about the media. The government, or someone has to regulate the airwaves because if not, communication doesn't work. If you had three radio stations in the same city that wanted to use the frequency 1260 Khz, it would become such a power war the radio waves would fry us. But these things should not be nor ever should have been for sale. They did the same thing with the newspapers, consolidated into a few very rich grubby little hands. And now they simply pay the regulatory agency to do their bidding.

Colin Powell's son Michael worked for them for a few years. He did a good job if you remember. He was very loyal.

They do a good fucking job of selling what is not theirs in every aspect.

Anyone can buy a printing press, but the airwaves are a shared resource.

We need more regulation. Fox NEWS shouldn't be allowed to broadcast commentary without equal time for opposing viewpoints. You have ONE republican, then you have to have ONE liberal and give them equal time... No cutting off their mics... If you have FIVE republicans, you need FIVE liberals on your panel ( no ganging up 5:1, like they do today... )

Point/Counterpoint was the best format ever. For a reason.

It did strike me as hilarious how many cons were terrified the Obama administration might start enforcing a rule that worked well for several decades. It was almost like they knew their ideas could not survive if alternative opinions also had to be broadcast.

But it turns out that bringing back the rule was another lie spread by the folks who pull the average cons strings. I'm sure a lot of money was raised and more will be raised even with the rule gone.

Obamas trying to take your guns away, and force you into the fairness doctrine, and there will be death panels.

My guess is you feel that way because you have nothing, and instead of taking responsibily for that you want to find someone to blame.

Disagree.

It used to be TV signals came into your house via public airwaves. The nightly news broadcast was a neutral 30 minute PSA, a sunk cost borne by broadcasters that was not supposed to make a profit, and they had to provide a 30-minute news broadcast as a "community service" in exchange for using public-owned airwaves to profit on their other programming during the other 23 and a half hours in a day.

But Fox and other 'for profit' 24 hr news entities are part of an industry that either put a private-funded wire into everyone's homes, or they bounce their signals off of private satellites.  They don't have the same community service obligation.  They consequently have no sunk costs like 'news bureaus', no paying of reporters to put shoe leather on asphalt the old fashioned way, rather, its those cheaper-to-produce 'opinion shows' that they peddle.

When its their dime delivering the verbal goods, as opposed to the public dime or public assets, they get to say what they want.

Hence, the death of FD.

The only way you defeat their present business model is to collectively click off the TV power button in everyone's house. The public needs to get fed up with the whole concept of propaganda, and so far, it has not.
