Why would I feel any need to defend them, Ken?  Their costituents can fire them, as I hope Maxine's will fire her.

Let us cast our eyes upward, and reflect in a moment of silent contemplation on the words of our Dear Leader;

But at a time when our discourse has become so sharply polarized, at a time when we are far too eager to lay the blame for all that ails the world at the feet of those who happen to think differently than we do, it's important for us to pause for a moment and make sure that we're talking with each other in a way that -- that heals, not in a way that wounds.

Re the last para; I think he tried that path, and was disabused of the fantasy that if you try to engage in meaningful discourse with the opposition that it would work out.

Ah, the naivete of youth. He has a hoary head now though.

We should be so lucky to have a President with a learning curve that pronounced, Ron.

Then we are lucky. I note he does not strike such conciliatory tones nowadays.

Gotta love that civil tone, huh?

You mean like the civil tone the teabaggers never had, and still do not?

No, Ken, my house is stucco.  [;)]

hmm, interesting reply.  Is it worth unhiding DK to see what he said?

hmmmmm......

nahhhhhhhhhhhh.

Firm

I don't know Firm, but if you want my opinion, which you probably don't, it's pretty cowardly hiding anyone.

If you can't stand the heat then why bother at all?

It is a bit weird that anybody would think a call for more civility in the partisan rep/dem bickering has anything to do with the teabaggers in the first place, really.

Now that's just silly, Moon.  Why would the Tea Party care for a moment about Obama's call to action?  It's like a Satanist pointing out an admonition from Jesus, that his followers are ignoring, and the Christians telling the Satanists that they must turn the other cheek first.  It isn't the fault of conservatives that his words are empty.

I'll ask you what I've asked others though.  Do you think the vast gulf between what Obama said, vs. what Obama has done, is because he's just lying every moment of every day, because he really wants it to be true, but is utterly incompetent to accomplish any of it, or because he's foolishly (dangerously?) naive, and completely lacking any sort of ability to learn?

Perhaps we should all adopt TheHeretic's and Sanity's rhetoric as a baseline in "civil tones'. My guess is that, it we were to do so, we would all be moderated within a week.

So let's stay with our usual level of civility and hope that friends on the looney right might actually elevate their rhetoric (and content) to something approaching our level one day ........ I know it's a challenge and a steep learning curve for them but please join me in wishing them success in rising to the challenge.

Sanity and I have very different approaches and tones, Tweak, but I suppose for someone with your caliber of perception, any thought outside "Republican's baa-aaad" qualifies as hate speech.

It would still be an improvement, though.

You`re just as fuck up as him.....just as disgusting and bigoted.

You`re just a bit more cleaver at hiding it,tiss`all.

Don`t set yourself with the moderates.

You`re not a moderate.

Speaking of the chronically uncivil betrayers of Obama's dream...  What, O59?  No scat reference tonight, or do you save that for when you are called out for taking diametrically opposed positions within the same thread?
