Delete your friends lists on both sides as described.

I don't ever add anyone as a friend since I'm of the opinion that unless I know you in real life and we are actually friends in real life, face to face, flesh to flesh, you are just a complete stranger. I just delete them when people request to be friended, no response, no nothing...just delete.
