Disclaimer:  I am not posting this because I am hating on Michelle Bachmann, or because I am worried about her chances of being president (zero).  I just thought it was extremely funny.

She's actually paraphrasing CS Lewis, who once finished a lecture on Middle English literature (Chaucer, I think) with the line: "And then the Renaissance came along and ruined everything..."
(Bit classier than those she cited for her reading list back when it looked like the GOP might find somebody sane to nominate as a Presidential candidate next year, I suppose...)
