If there's a contract, you have Master / slave.

If there's NOT a contract, could be anything.
If there's a collar, could be anything.

that's because no one agrees on the definition.

You'll usually hear "It's whatever you want it to mean".

Problem with that is with no set defintiion it's very difficult when getting to know someone to make sure you are both on the same page so my advice to you is to make sure you thoroughly and clearly tell others what you want and who you are so there are no surprises later. Don't just tell them you are a slave or a sub, tell them what you want, what you like, what you are seeking...in detail...not just in vague terms which seems to be the problem that most have.

Thanks again but I start to think that my name may mean different things to different people. I love D/s dynamics in a relationship (leader-follower style) with me being in the sub/slave role. Thanks again!

I'm an owned submissive. I don't believe in consensual slavery.

Please explain the difference between "consensual ownership" and "consensual slavery."  Kind of a fine line from where I sit.

OsideGirl -> RE: Sub or Slave (8/9/2011 6:53:54 PM)

My personal view is that slavery isn't something that's voluntary and its horrible thing. I understand that others feel differently, but it's just the way my gut feels about it.

I also understand that the ownership isn't reality either, but it's closer to what my gut says is right for me.

But, but, you used the phrase "consensual slavery" [in post #26] and then reply to my question [in post #27] that "[non-consensual] slavery isn't voluntary."  Well, DUH!

I asked about the difference from your POV as to the difference between "CONSENSUAL slavery" and "CONSENSUAL ownership."  You answered that consensual ownership is what's right for your gut.  NO PROBLEM with that.

I'm just trying to find out the line between that and CONSENSUAL slavery.  In other words: what's the difference (for you) between "CONSENSUAL slavery" and "CONSENSUAL ownership"?

ETA: I never heard the phrase "consensual ownership" before and wonder what I'm missing. LOL!

OsideGirl -> RE: Sub or Slave (8/9/2011 8:47:30 PM)

Because I don't think there's any such thing as consensual slavery. The definition of slavery is involuntary. It's about the choice.

//sarcastic font = ON //
I don't think there's anything consensual about ownership.  One owns dogs and cars, etc.  One can't own another person.  The definition of ownership is involuntary.  The dog has no choice.

Jack Rinella wrote "Becoming a Slave" which is sub-titled "The Theory and Practice of Voluntary Servitude."

Can we agree on "Voluntary Servitude"?  I think so.  And the noun would be "Voluntary Servant."

'K?

"Voluntary Servant" is SOOOoo kewl because it puts heavy emphasis on the fact that the sub-or-slave can walk at any time.  Also, that weird word "consensual" has disappeared.  By "weird" I mean just how can a D/s dynamic be anything BUT consensual.  After all, you're both involved. LOL!

We good?

Cool, thanks but it seems most here do not have really a clear definition for the difference. I guess I should be something in between "Sublve" lol I may change my name to Sublve mmm I will think about it

We actually call those "slubs".

DesFIP -> RE: Sub or Slave (8/10/2011 10:09:00 AM)

A sub is someone who won't do what I will, And a slave is someone who will do what I won't.

I said I'm a cynic, what else would you expect?

stoni23 -> RE: Sub or Slave (8/10/2011 11:00:36 AM)

If I agree to be someone's slave, then I'm a consensual slave. It's as simple as that... No gray area necessary.

Absolutely. We're all entitled to go about this as we feel works best for us.
