I've never really been 'horrified' by horror films, as such. Thrilled, excited, maybe - but I've never taken them all that seriously. At times, they even make me burst out laughing. Anyone else feel this way about them?

Anyway, favourite scene ever:

One of the George A. Romero "Zombies" flicks. A group of uncouth punk rockers (one of whom is a girl who rejoices in the nickname "Trash") is beset by zombies in a churchyard. They get into a crypt - whereupon they see a zombie, with his back to them, bent over a stiff's head. (Fortunately, we don't see said head.) He's chomping and slurping away, happily mumbling "Brains! Brains!!" to himself. The punk rockers are unsurprisingly aghast. "What *is* that thing?', one says - and chucks a brick at its head. Whereupon, the zombie stands, turns an entirely skeletal head towards the punk rockers and cries joyfully, "MORE brains!'

I'm a total wuss when it comes to horror movies, I'm alright with vampires but not zombies with bits falling off and trying to snack on me, and no spiders or chain saws or Freddy Kruegers... Hard limit, I end up hiding behind the sofa!

Oddly enough, of all horror subjects, vampires affect me the least. I say 'oddly' because, despite that, I still have the very occasional, truly awful nightmare that involves vampires.

I guess I'm still a bit of a Goth so the whole vampire look appeals to me, and you know, who wouldn't mind giving up garlic and daylight for eternal youth?

Then bite them, tell them avoid wooden stakes and stuff, problem solved ;)

That wasn't one of Romero's zombie movies. But it had an unintentionally hilarious part in it when an amputee actor was a zombie and was chasing after someone and slipped and went headfirst into a tombstone.

In the original Dawn of the Dead, a man is so obsessed with one of those blood pressure cuffs that he keeps trying to use it, even when he's surrounded by zombies. He eventually gets eaten while trying to use it.

I don't like the gory kind of horror, but I adore Asian cinema, especially the way they show ghosts kind of unfolding from their dimension. The new zombie horror movies are great. I used to be skeered to the zombies but now that I have read The Zombie Survival Guide I feel much better. Srsly.

Wasn't it? Who did that one, then?

The Book of the Dead - ah, brilliant, in all ways. A foul female demon tries to get out of the cellar, but the hero manages to slam the trapdoor on her head and force her down. Unfortunately, though, the demon's eye pops out and flies through the air - and straight into the mouth of the hero's girlfriend, who is screaming with all her lung-power nearby.

With the exception of the first zombie movie ever, 'Night of the Living Dead', any movie that ends in 'of the Dead' is by Romero (Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead, etc). Any that ends in 'of the Living Dead' is done by someone else. Tom Savini, usually.

The outake of Paul Ruben's death scene during the credits in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I knew he was in the film, but it wasn't until that outtake that I recognized PeeWee (Herman)!

Bruce Campbell in his Evil Dead Movies, specially the first where his hand gets infected and drags him around until he cuts it off with the chain saw, and says, "who's laughing now", but there are so many bits that I enjoy.
I know Ive laughed at many moments in other horror movies, but now I cant think of any, gah

The bit in Bad Taste when the one guy has to keep putting the hat on his head to stop the bit of his scalp flapping about. I found that quite amusing. There's loads of bits I've found funny in horror films, so I'd have to think hard to narrow it down, but that one definitely sprang to mind.

that movie is full of hilarious stuff, but i agree with lazarus; i don't think it was a Romero movie. i can't remember the title, though. =p i think that movie set out to be humorous -- i mean there's also a bright white zombie with bright red hair. the zombies also get on the police scanner and say "send more cops" because they've eaten all the others. =p

i actually DO get scared of horror movies sometimes. =p but when they're intending to be humorous, like that one, they can be pretty stellar. ^_^
