Small wonder the teabaggers aren't aware of that then: they've mostly just read the cliff notes to Atlas Shrugged, or a precis on wiki, rather than the novel, so can you imagine them trying to read around it?

Adultery wouldn't go over well with the right wing either.

Moonhead -> RE: Ayn Rand Predicted Twitter (8/9/2011 4:51:15 PM)

True. She was very good at that as well.
(That might be another reason for the libertarian personality cult around her doormat of a husband, now that you mention that. [;)] )

Always lovely to see such well-thought-out, intelligent replies...

Yea, my first thought would be...Facebook.

OP-  if you want a good book - read the fourth turning.  Howe and Strauss.

why you reading that crap?

she is a nit wit.

Well so are you.

Elaborate, please.

Reading Rand and putting it all together it is possible to come to the conclusion that in her ideal world, there are no truths...not discovered in an exchange of wealth in the pursuit of a profit.

Maybe you should try again once you've got a clue what he's talking about, rather than passing on hearsay?
Anyway, I thought you didn't do fiction?

Do you have anything to contribute to this conversation?

We are waiting.

Moonhead -> RE: Ayn Rand Predicted Twitter (8/9/2011 5:24:59 PM)

Rather more than you have so far. Did you not notice?

pahunkboy -> RE: Ayn Rand Predicted Twitter (8/9/2011 5:30:21 PM)

I already contributed to this discussion.   That being that the OP should not read her crap- that there are alot of other books that are worthwhile to read.

Tragedy and hope,  the 4th turning are both far better books to examine.

Moonhead -> RE: Ayn Rand Predicted Twitter (8/9/2011 5:33:18 PM)

And you're saying this on the basis of having read Rand's work, rather than passing on hearsay, are you?

pahunkboy -> RE: Ayn Rand Predicted Twitter (8/9/2011 5:37:28 PM)

Does it really matter?       Either way-  her work is nothing impressive.

Moonhead -> RE: Ayn Rand Predicted Twitter (8/9/2011 5:41:12 PM)

Until you've actually read some of it, you're in no position to say that. Sorry, that's how things work.
If you want to discuss how godawful Ayn Rand's writing is, fuck off and read some of it first.

pahunkboy -> RE: Ayn Rand Predicted Twitter (8/9/2011 5:45:31 PM)

I bet she ranks up there will Alsion Crowley.     Real  "winners".

HA!

I am not reading her BS.

Moonhead -> RE: Ayn Rand Predicted Twitter (8/9/2011 5:49:12 PM)

So why do you feel that you're entitled to talk about an author whose work you haven't read, based on something somebody who probably reads fuck all besides Alex has told you?
Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I've always felt that a literary discussion obliges you to have read the literature under discussion. You haven't and all youy have to say is "somebody told me I shouldn't read Ayn Rand". What the fuck is that bringing to the party?

pahunkboy -> RE: Ayn Rand Predicted Twitter (8/9/2011 5:58:59 PM)

Because that author is WRONG

Moonhead -> RE: Ayn Rand Predicted Twitter (8/9/2011 6:02:12 PM)

You've read her work and can discuss why she is wrong, then?

pahunkboy -> RE: Ayn Rand Predicted Twitter (8/9/2011 6:04:20 PM)

She is wrong because I said so.

Her "work" is a fraud.

Moonhead -> RE: Ayn Rand Predicted Twitter (8/9/2011 6:07:46 PM)

You haven't read her work, and are in no position to discuss how wrong or fraudulent it is.
Still, at least you've excused me* having to read the next load of paranoid bullshit you post a link to before dismissing it as drivel, I suppose.

*(and everybody else on the forum, come to that)

pahunkboy -> RE: Ayn Rand Predicted Twitter (8/9/2011 6:12:18 PM)

Well then according to you,  Ms Ayn should get the pulisurprise award.

Her work is a fraud.   Period.
